My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Happy, healthy, and adventurous.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I spent the last few years taking care of my parents until they passed away, volunteering as a disaster relief first responder, going through a divorce, building a stronger bond with my kids, and am now devoting time to the next challenge/adventure, hopefully with a fun, witty and drama free partner (sorry about the drama free part, I've just had enough for awhile...).

This whole online dating thing is a lot more complicated than one would think given the relative anonymity of it all. My preference is to meet versus chat, guess I am old school. I like looking into a woman's eyes, seeing her hands, how often she smiles...

Best of luck in your search! Remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained....
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Using my head and my hands...

Both men and women I meet say I look like Richard Gere or alternately, Anthony Bourdain, or a mix of both, though I feel my personality and love of fine food and drink is akin to Anthony.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - way too many to mention, though I like to mix fiction w/history.
Movies/shows - comedies, dramas, indies. Stewart, Colbert, Maher for comedy/commentary. Currently enamored by True Detective, The Newsroom, and The Bridge, excellent writing, directing, and acting!
Music - eclectic tastes, jazz, world, blues, R&R, R&B, though not much for rap/hip hop, opera or country.
Food - Indian, Vietnamese, Thai, an outstanding medium rare cheeseburger on a brioche roll w/frites gets it done too! Developed an allergy to crabs several years ago. I think it was payback for all those years I kicked crab pots off my dock in the morning and feasted on those little beasties in the evening. Still drool when I watch others eat 'em!

Addicted to NPR, why can't our political discourse be more NPR like?
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- totally cliche, I love my kids, actually all young people, they bring fresh perspective! My kids are happy, healthy and well adjusted young adults now & I am an empty nester, which I am enjoying immensely!
- daily exercise. Nothing hard core, I just like to move. Have been taking yoga classes for two years now, and find it good for my body and soul...
- a good laugh! We don't do it often enough.
- learning something new everyday.
- traveling! Only one continent left. I relish being in the thick of an utterly incomprehensible environment and/or culture.
- a great beach, warm tropical waters and a sunny sky.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why people read People Magazine, who is going to win the Nobel Prize in physics and for what, when am I going to meet an extraterrestrial, why people don't write letters anymore, why I waited so long to find a woman doctor, how social media can really be social when you are doing it alone with your computer?, how many azure shades the sky can really be, bats and hummingbirds, they are fascinating!, how to create a device that shocks people who use their cell phone while driving, turns their car off and makes them wet their pants all at once, recycling, where I can find the perfect veal saltimbocca, that freedom is overrated and justice is under served, is love really true?, the unintended consequences of words and deeds, and finally, when people respond to questions like this, are they just making $h!t up ;-)!?!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Wherever my mood takes me, though it is generally low key as I get up early on SAT to take a morning yoga class.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I've had lots of dogs as pets, and the one I loved most was a pit bull I named Buggs that I rescued during a hurricane in S. Carolina. She was in terrible physical & emotional shape. I nursed her back to health. The sweetest, most loyal, best friend I've ever had. She returned the nursing favor after I had a serious accident and checked out AMA when they dropped me on the floor in X-ray. Gently crawled on top of me and stretched herself out to keep me warm while I was in shock, licking my face to tell me she loved me and everything would be alright. It eventually was...

I taught my daughter how to walk in heels. Six inch pumps. My legs really look great in 'em according to several women who have seen me in them! Oh yeah, and I can dance in them!

If you are fit, smart, funny, haven't fudged your age, don't take yourself too seriously, and have packed away your baggage, please drop me a note.... One more thing, my apologies, this is a real pet peeve (pun intended) if you don't have a profile pix, I won't respond, and if your profile pix is you and your daughter(s), son(s), friends, dogs, cats, or other animate or inanimate objects, I probably won't reply. After all, this is a dating site, not a friends and family commercial. Oh, a final note. Please have the courtesy to invoke Nancy Reagan and "just say no" if I message you and you prefer not to meet, chat, whatever. This is about potential, not ego. Put your big girl pants on and say what you are thinking. I get it, and will not be hurt and/or offended. Just don't have time for it anymore....
