I have very little skill in socializing, unless I'm among my own kind (which you can take to mean whatever you want). I have a strange talent at knowing who in a room I'll get along with well.

I'm an unusual person and I know it, which is why I'm using this website to search far and wide for a companion. I'm an odd mish-mash of hippy and hillbilly, redneck and liberal, fairy child and farmer.

I spend my time reading, watching movies, kayaking (still learning), hiking/backpacking (still learning), camping, geocaching, and generally exploring. I'm also in the process of learning the guitar.

I've been known to cry over a beautiful sunset.

I am spiritual. I regard nature the way some people regard their gods. I believe in the spirit of all things. I believe in psychic ability and am the field's harshest skeptic.

I like to ride my bike in lieu of driving when I can.

I think I'd like to thru-hike the Appalachian some day. Maybe you would too?

I dream of self-sufficiency, and a house we built ourselves; a kitchen garden and a canning basement; active and smart, inquisitive kids. This is my future, someday.

I am nearly constantly updating and editing my profile because I am often editing me; I am a work-in-progress. There is a large gap between who I am and who I want to be.

I like philosophy, but mine more so than others'.

I am absent-minded, open-minded, and on fire.

I need a patient, responsible dude who is very self aware and mature.

My musical tastes are extremely varied, but I am also very picky. I shall, to give you a taste, put my iPod on shuffle. I'll tell you the first five songs and bands, and my favorite verse from each one:

I wish my bookcase had a shuffle. I started reading A Game of Thrones, but then wanted to read Lord of the Rings again, so I'm doing that. I've also been reading a book on HSPs, a teaching manual for backpacking, a dog training book, and a backpacking cookbook.

I don't watch much tv. Stargate was my favorite show. If I must channel surf, I'll probably land on Syfy, Discovery, or Comedy Central. I don't have cable though.

I'm not usually fond of cooking, but I thoroughly enjoy eating. I don't eat meat for a multitude of ethical and dietary reasons, unless is is organic or wild game. Strictly never eating meat is unnatural and silly I think, because a) vitamin b12, and b) we wouldnt have the brains to choose never eating meat if it werent for the meat we ate. I don't feel the same need as most other to deny my humanity.

I don't eat too much dairy either, because it doesnt make much logical sense to me, and I'm a little intolerant. I like cheeses occasionally though.

I suppose I try to follow a Paleolithic diet, if I had to give it a name, but not exactly.

I find it a bit hilarious that so many people will drink the breast milk from a cow while thinking its inappropriate to nurse their own young.

To keep me happy, to keep me sane, or to keep me alive? You should be more clear, OkCupid.

But in general, I'm pretty resourceful and can usually scrape by in whatever situation life throws at me.

I wonder about the subjectivity of reality.

I have an ADD brain and if nothing is stimulating it, it will instantly wander off into realms hitherto unexplored. I often realize, half way through a movie or an event or a conversation, that I have no idea what's going on because my brain left on a tangent ten minutes in and just got back into the action.

I think a lot about child empowerment.

I am a pathological introvert. I feel like I understand myself in ways few people understand themselves.

Ignorant of the fact that it's Friday night. Outside of work and mandatory responsibilities, I basically do what I want, when I want. I'm not one for plans or routines.

I can respect and appreciate the visual beauty of Avatar, but I really didn't like the movie very much.
