My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Jack Nicholson once said that he wanted one last great love. I guess we all want to find someone special... In the mean time, I'm excited by the beauty of the fall and the fact that I just got back from an REI adventure trip to Alaska to see the sights and be outdoors. To balance all this activity I've been doing a lot of reading, especially books by Oliver Sacks and some traditional poetry. I am warm and responsive person who enjoys participating in new adventures such as sightseeing in New England and being outdoors; all better with when shared! Being quiet with that special someone is a wonderful adventure... I also love to take walks with friends, bicycle, garden, take my daughter's dog for walks, and ice skate (indoor rinks, all seasons). Meeting friends for dinner and/or a movie is relaxing. I also love classical music, some blues, jazz, and oldies, and have a subscription to the BSO. Museums are a favorite place to be! I'd like to learn to become a better dancer, and to travel more outside the U.S., Any suggestions of favorite places you've been? Retirement in on the horizon, so I've started to think about that and how to make the transition. Any suggestions for how to get the most out of that new stage are welcome. It would be good to hear from you!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
During the work week I am a pediatric occupational therapist in an elementary school. I am involved in alumni work with two schools I attended (before college); most frequently Phillips Academy in Andover. I grow plants all year round since they are a staple for my well being. Keeping in touch with friends, old and new, is important to me, so try to get together with people as much as possible. I have a subscription to the B.S.O. Sharing a joke with a friend is great fun. It would be great to learn about other people's hobbies and interests to expand my own world. Daily reading is a must for lots of reasons! I also like watching public television, listening to NPR, and also watching ABC for local happenings, especially "Chronicle" . It's fun to try new restaurants with friends. There are so many to choose from around here!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I have a lot of success in drawing people out; learning about their life journey. I'm slower to reveal mine just because I like to learn rather than talk about myself. I'm good at creating beautiful things with flowers and doing some crafts. I'm a really enthusiastic person and enjoy exploring new places and having novel adventures (given that they are not risky!) I also have some success playing Anagrams and online Scrabble...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'll have to ask them since I don't usually inquire! Probably my smile and general warmth catch a person's attention.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Some favorite movies include many Woody Allen movies (Midnight in Paris was terrific!"); and many of the older classics, such as those with Catherine Deneuve and the Bergmann movies. I absolutely avoid violence in movies, even in War Horse! My most recent favorite movie is the French flick, "the Intouchables". I tend towards "healthy food". Fried foods and I part company, except for sweet potato fries! Yogurt, bread, and fresh fruit are favorites. I'm currently reading a book of Chekhov's short stories. I also love reading The New Yorker, and The New York Times online. I welcome suggestions for reading!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A home; family; friends; time to play; being outdoors; my cats
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What I want to do with the rest of my life to make it as fulfilling to myself and others as I can. I also think about what would be relaxing in the moment, like looking through one of my kaleidoscopes or popping outdoors to enjoy whatever is there. I also think a lot about my "bucket" list in terms of places to travel and experiences to have. Finally... Sometimes I think I have a special guardian angel who takes care of me in tricky situations....and then I start to reflect more on "what it's all about"!! I am also starting to think about retirement...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Vegging out at home or sometimes meeting up with friends. I also enjoy giving myself a little push to go someplace I think I'm too tired to explore. At any rate it's "recovery from the week" night!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I admitted anything it would no longer be private!
