My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Nothing I could write in this box could come close to summarizing me, but I'll try! I'm a storyteller, an optimist, a skeptical romantic, a believer in the power of a solid persuasive essay, an educator/writer who has a low tolerance for rigid thinking and/or willful ignorance, and a pragmatic dreamer who believes that change is possible - but not necessarily comfortable.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a college Humanities instructor (who used to work in retail to support my "teaching hobby") turned freelance writer. I write -- all the time -- and while I do not make the "big bucks," I have never been more professionally happy in my life.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Seeing the big picture, telling the truth (even when it's difficult), being optimistic, and finding the silver lining.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes and my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love reading and usually have at least three books going at a time:

October 2015
We are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
Lit by Mary Karr
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh

September 2015
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon
The Velvet Rage by Alan Downes
On Writing by Stephen King

August 2015
Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King
Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCallum
Trains and Lovers by Alexander McCall Smith

My favorite movies are Heat, The Big Lebowski, The Departed, Sucker Punch, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I listen to all kinds of music, but my all-time favorite group is Dream Theater. Currently, I'm listening to Gareth Laffely's album "Sky Before the Storm" and a mix of Niia, Toril and Moi, Naxxos, The Smiths, The Rippingtons, Bruno Mars, Bastille, Claire McGuire, Jessie Ware, Nell Bryden, Enigma, One Republic, Ed Sheeran, Jesse Ware, Clean Bandit, Lowen & Navarro, and HAIM.

I don't own a television, but I like Luther, The Wire, Fringe, Scandal, The Mind of a Chef, The Daily Show, Suits, The West Wing, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Black Mirror and Arrow.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee, books, my iPhone, the Duolingo app, lingerie, and Uniball Signo RT 0.38 gel pens.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why people find it so hard to simply be kind to one another, and why more people don't question information they're given.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am a living, breathing paradox.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You live in the city and are looking to meet interesting people, engage in lively conversations, and make new friends.

You understand what it means to actually be polyamorous.

You laugh easily and can make me laugh.

You've ever dated (or have read about dating) an Aquarius woman and you understand what you're in for.

You sport scruff and/or have a British, Irish or Scottish accent (but if you have both...holy moly!)

You get why the gun battle outside of the bank in Heat is the best 30-minutes in film history.

You can quote lines from The Big Lebowski.

You believe that "You must be the change you want to see in the world."

You don't assume that meeting up with someone is an invitation to have sex and, as a result, can begin a conversation with something other than, "So, what kind of sex do you like?" Seriously, gentlemen. Seriously.
