My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a pragmatic, non-materialistic optimist who is open, honest and adventurous (read: talks a lot, says what I *really* think, and will try anything at least once, but usually twice to make sure). I am tenacious and driven, but balance it with a wicked sense of humor and love of learning. I have a low tolerance for rigid thinking and/or willful ignorance.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm an educator turned freelance writer who relocated to Chicago in April 2013, and is trying to figure out what adventurous path to take next.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Seeing the big picture and motivating people to let go of fear and follow their dreams!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes and my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love reading and usually have at least three books going at a time:
December 2014
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night by Mark Haddon
The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher by Hilary Mantel
When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times by Pema Chodron

November 2014:
Herculine Barbin by Michel Foucault
The Marketplace by Laura Antoniou

October 2014:
Truth & Beauty by Ann Patchett
The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert
Rise of the Warrior Cop by Radley Balko

September 2014:
The Widow's House by Daniel Abraham
The Street Sweeper by Elliott Pearlman
The Mistress Manual by Lorelei Powers

My favorite movies are Heat, The Big Lebowski, The Departed, Sucker Punch, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I listen to all kinds of music, but my all-time favorite group is Dream Theater. Currently, I'm listening to The Rippingtons' new album "Fountain of Youth" and a mix of Bastille, Claire McGuire, Jessie Ware, Nell Bryden, Enigma, One Republic, Ed Sheeran, Jesse Ware, Clean Bandit, Lowen & Navarro, and HAIM.

I don't own a television, but I like Scandal, Chicago Fire, The Daily Show, Suits, The West Wing, Black is the New Orange, House of Cards, Black Mirror and Arrow.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee, books, my iPhone, the Duolingo app, lingerie, and Haribo gummy bears (the ones made in Germany, not Jersey).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to inspire people who run large corporations to understand that profit and honesty/ethics are not mutually exclusive.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am a living, breathing paradox.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you are single (or in an open poly relationship in which you would have no problem introducing me to your significant other).

If you laugh easily and can make me laugh.

If you get why the gun battle outside of the bank in Heat is the best 30-minutes in film history.

If you can quote lines from The Big Lebowski.

If you're comfortable with dating a woman who can appreciate the finer things, but is far more impressed by lively conversation and intellectual engagement.

If you believe that "You must be the change you want to see in the world."

If you have a view of the world that is off-beat or unconventional and you're looking for someone who can go to the outer limits of the imagination with you.

If you can begin a conversation with something other than, "So, what kind of sex do you like?" Seriously, gentlemen. Seriously.
