My self-summary
I think what I make says more about me than what I might write
here. I have a site that globs together a big swatch of my
work.

I've managed to be part of many fantastic things. I illustrated and
edited much of Show Me How, write for CRAFTzine, and even have my own page on IMDB. I recently worked on a show called Fairytale Fashion with Diana Eng of Project Runway fame.

I love road trips, unsettling honesty, talking while walking, and
braingasms.
What I’m doing with my life
Eesh... Always with the tough questions. I'd love to say I'm on a quest from God, or in search of an ancient and powerful relic, or am hunting down a dream I had when I was five. I can't stand by any of those explanations. What I am doing, however, is building skills, taking on new and thrilling projects, and finishing off old ones that just needed a bit more love and a bit more time.

I make my living through freelancing, making jewelry, and the occasional bit of bigger art. On the side I've been designing a large interactive musical art installation, developing my own brand of couture steampunk accessories, and figuring out how to dance the line between art and engineering.

I also admire and envy hackers tremendously. I secretly wish I were Hiro Protagonist.
The first things people usually notice about me
I like being over the top from time to time. It's interesting seeing how people react to strange hair and dressing up. I like wearing fancy suits, know how to tie a Windsor by rote, and am not afraid to wield Aqua Net with deadly force.

When I'm not putting on a show, I suppose it would be my voice. I've got this little twinge of radio announcer in me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I listen to a lot of books on tape, but that sounds lame so I'll say I'm into Super Reading. Through Super Reading I've polished off all of Pratchett, Gladwell, and Lovecraft and am making substantial headway on Gaiman, though the man keeps vexing me by unceasingly publishing new work. I'm also obsessed with the Great Courses series.

If you're like me you'd probably like Guns, Germs, and Steel, His Dark Materials, Surely You're Joking, Dr. Feynman, The Mote in God's Eye, Sex at Dawn, The Red Queen, The Lemony Snicket series (especially as read by Tim Curry), Anything by Asimov, Sagan, Bradbury, Dahl, or Orwell, and the short stories of Stephen King.

Good company makes for good films. That being said, I really liked Ghostbusters, Let the Right One In, the Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Life of Brian, Seven Samurai, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (I likes me some Gary Oldman) et al. I also watch a bunch of Mythbusters, Top Gear, Good Eats, How It's Made, and MST3k.

Music comes and goes. I'll listen to a few songs on repeat for a week, and then drop them almost as though they were hot. Justice, m83, Erlend Oye, La Roux and Pogo are on my playlist at the moment.

Food is all about the quality of the stuff you put in and who you share it with. I prefer to cook with some friends than go out usually, but unilaterally cave for sushi.
The six things I could never do without
Urban Spelunking - I adore hunting around for the unused spaces, the marginal places, the abandoned secret and sacred spots. I like broken down and dilapidated things. I like documenting them and imagining all the things they've seen since their heyday.

Big Machines - No, I don't just mean cars that go fast and things that make noise. I love locomotives, steam engines, roller coasters, industrial drills, and the LHC. Huge fusions of sweat and human endeavor fill me with good will.

Little Machines - I also love the tiny, intricate work of mad geniuses slaving away under hot microscopes.

Sunglasses - I'm pretty much blind on an average sunny day without protection.

Sketchbooks paired with mechanical pencils - There's something so charming about mechanical pencils. That, and I can't stand sharpening regular pencils.

Boots - I've got this pair of army boots that I adore. They've been through trials and tribulations. I even got them used, so there's no telling what atrocities they've seen. Still, all it takes is some time and some attention and I can polish them into little black mirrors.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I obsess over designs. I will stop conversations to sketch an idea out. I'll make someone repeat what they just said because there was a certain magic inspiring something to it. A lot of my time is spent seeing to those dreams and designs, either making them happen, or planning out details so that when they're ready to happen I'm ready to make them.
On a typical Friday night I am
My life's getting a bit crowded with projects these days. I'm either in the city irresponsibly frittering away my hard earned pittance on fruity drinks, or in the workshop come Friday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have obscure but entertaining kinks.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
Just message me. Seriously. Make it interesting. Say what's on your mind. If you were hit with a fleeting fancy while reading all this stuff pass it on.

If you could introduce me to bars that are small, colorful, and quiet enough to have a good conversation in, tiny restaurants, and abandoned things to photograph I would be incredibly enthused.

I know you're a fascinating person and even if our love isn't destined to be written across the stars in gossamer teardrops I'm sure we could both enjoy a coffee and a cruller in a quaint little cafe on the outskirts of somewhere.
