My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Typical music-loving Austinite. Completely new to the whole online friendship/dating/whatever thing, so I'm possibly doing this all wrong.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Doing some pretty dry stuff with a nonprofit during the day, going to concerts, collecting vinyl, taking photos, scrolling endlessly through tumblr, following hockey games via twitter and the NHL app, and occasionally baking really complicated things on a whim.

Oh, and I've been really into knitting scarves recently. I don't know, it's gonna get cold soon and I was inspired?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Photography, compulsively buying vinyl, geeking out over poetry, baking, sewing (when the whim strikes me).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm usually meeting anyone new when I'm downtown, which means the first thing they notice about me is probably the camera around my neck. Canon 7D, if you're a photog or care at all.

Or maybe my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I grew up reading sci-fi/fantasy, so I have a weakness for anything in that genre (but especially Gaiman, Bujold, Pratchett, Heinlein). The current Hawkeye series by Matt Fraction is also freaking awesome, and I've given in and am finally working my way through back issues of Hellblazer.

I don't have cable, but my Netflix/Hulu history includes Agents of SHIELD, Doctor Who, the Wire, Orphan Black, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Community, Arrested Development, Parks & Rec, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and lots of Star Trek. Movie-wise, I saw Guardians of the Galaxy the day after it came out and have been geeking out about it (and all the Marvel stuff coming up) ever since. But generally, I'll watch almost everything except rom-coms and gory horror. Off the top of my head, a few things I really dig: Aliens, the Shining, Mean Girls, Spaceballs, Rocky Horror, Mulholland Dr, the Avengers, the Royal Tenenbaums, more. Also, hockey (Dallas Stars fuck yeah!).

Music loves are too numerous to mention, but for a rough idea just imagine anything you'd see on a stage at Fun Fun Fun Fest, plus some jazz, blues, and old-school country. I go to a ton of concerts; it would not be overstating to say I could not survive without music in my life. Lately I've been listening fairly frequently to Sharon Van Etten, Perfume Genius, Destroyer, the Mountain Goats, Shearwater, Nick Cave, the Monks, the Bush Tetras, Goldfrapp, and so much more.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music, the internet (people talk about wanting to be born a hundred years ago, but I always wanted to be born in the future… I fucking love the internet, and modern tech in general), something great to read... Let me get back to you on the others.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
"I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot."

I didn't know what to put here, but every time I looked at the blank space and that damn ellipsis I thought of this quote. I figure it's as good as any other. If you recognize the source and don't judge me too terribly for it that'd be great.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either at a concert or at home marathoning something random on Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I stopped drinking for a while, so now I have absolutely no tolerance at all... It's pretty sad, actually. Also, I don't drink beer, which shocks and appalls some people.

Message me if you think I'm interesting! I'm terrible at making contact first... Shit, I should work on that, shouldn't I.
