My self-summary
Typical music-loving Austinite. Completely new to the whole online friendship/dating/whatever thing, so I'm possibly doing this all wrong.
What I’m doing with my life
Doing some pretty dry stuff with a nonprofit during the day, going to a lot of concerts, taking photos often, and occasionally baking really complicated things on a whim.

I have a decent-sized vinyl collection that I'm pretty proud of, and I'm geeky enough about it to have created a Google Docs spreadsheet of all the records I own, and another for records I want.

I have an amazing group of friends that I love going to concerts/parties/brunches/etc with, but finding new people outside the group can be difficult. That was actually a big motivating factor for making this profile.
I’m really good at
Photography, compulsively buying vinyl, geeking out over poetry, baking, sewing (when the whim strikes me).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm usually meeting anyone new when I'm downtown, which means the first thing they notice about me is probably the camera around my neck. Canon 7D, if you're a photog or care at all.

Or maybe my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I grew up reading sci-fi/fantasy, so I have a weakness for anything in that genre (but especially Gaiman, Bujold, Pratchett, Heinlein).

I don't have cable, but my Netflix/Hulu history includes Doctor Who, Orphan Black, Community, Arrested Development, Parks & Rec, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and lots of Star Trek. Movie-wise, I saw Captain America: the Winter Soldier the day after it came out and have been geeking out about it since. But generally, I'll watch almost everything except rom-coms and gory horror. Off the top of my head, a few things I really dig: Aliens, the Shining, Mean Girls, Spaceballs, Rocky Horror, Mulholland Dr, the Avengers, the Royal Tenenbaums, more.

Music loves are too numerous to mention, but for a rough idea just imagine anything you'd see on a stage at Fun Fun Fun Fest, plus some jazz, blues, and old-school country. I go to a ton of concerts; it would not be overstating to say I could not survive without music in my life. Lately I've been listening fairly frequently to the Ramones, Sharon Van Etten, Destroyer, Jagwar Ma, Shearwater, Nick Cave, the Monks, the Bush Tetras, Goldfrapp, and so much more.
The six things I could never do without
Music, the internet (people talk about wanting to be born a hundred years ago, but I always wanted to be born in the future… I fucking love the internet, and modern tech in general), something great to read... Let me get back to you on the others.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot."

I didn't know what to put here, but every time I looked at the blank space and that damn ellipsis I thought of this quote. I figure it's as good as any other. If you recognize the source and don't judge me too terribly for it that'd be great.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either at a concert or at home marathoning something random on Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I stopped drinking for a while, so now I have absolutely no tolerance at all... It's pretty sad, actually. Also, I don't drink beer, which shocks and appalls some people.
