I am adventurous, quirky, and calm.

My Self-Summary

If I had to describe myself in a single sentence, I'd say "I am a multi-faceted person". To expound upon this, I tend to be quite reactive to my surroundings. I enjoy exploring new ideas, places, and feelings. I find it hard to single out one or a few things that I enjoy exclusively, because it's all about what kind of mood that I'm in. I can be the artsy/poetic type one day, and be the greasy monkey the next. However, one thing that I hold constant is that my friends are important to me. A very dear friend of mine actually captured the essence of me really well, once. He told me that it is very easy for me to see the good that is in everyone and look past their less virtuous qualities. While this may be an endearing attribute, it is often my downfall. I enjoy helping people, and it's hard for me to accept that some are beyond help. I think this passion for helping people is what's driving me towards the medical field. My current background in engineering just feels cold and lacking fulfillment. Of course, I also find that life is so much more enjoyable when it's shared with someone else.

What I’m doing with my life

My plans are to finish off my Bachelors degree, and get my Masters in Medical Physics. Once fiscally independent, I'd like to do a little traveling.

I’m really good at

Putting a twist on normal things. This may be in the form of creative problem solving, or even looking at things with a different angle.

The first things people usually notice about me

It's been said that I have really deep eyes. I wouldn't believe it myself, except I've gotten that from several different people. People find that I'm generally laid back and easy to please. When someone needs a friend to talk to, I'm usually the one to listen.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

As far as books go, I'm a fan of satire/comedy novels. Fantasy is usually the best as far as that goes.

I'm usually not up to speed when it comes to movies, however I'm working on changing that. I can never remember the names of actors, mostly because that never mattered to me.

My taste in music grows more diversified with every day that goes by. I used to be all about heavy metal, and while it doesn't bother me, I've gotten past that part in my life. I now enjoy a wide variety of alternative rock, electronic, rap, and country. I particularly enjoy experiencing unique local bands.

I love to try new foods. Especially ethnic foods. A great meal for me can be described as a riot of flavor.

The six things I could never do without

1. My closest friends. We may be scattered about the world right now, but every time we meet again it is as our time apart had never happened.

2. Music. Any kind, even really crappy music. I once went three months without any kind of personal electronic device. I didn't miss my computer, as handy as it may be. I don't bother with cable as it is, so the lack of TV wasn't an issue. However, after several weeks without any kind of music player, I went just about nuts. I had to resort to playing songs over and over again in my head to get by.

3. News. I feel the need to stay informed. I literally starve for information on a constant basis. It doesn't matter if it's recent events or new scientific fact, if it's new and intriguing to me, I've got to know about it.

4. A little time to myself. It doesn't have to be much. It's nice to take a little time out of the day to reflect, and analyze new experiences and feelings. This usually takes place just before I go to sleep. It helps me stay focused and positive.

5. Cozy blankets. I've sacrificed a great many things in my life, but nice soft blankets can make many of life's problems melt away for a little while.

6. A home-cooked meal. Life gets busy. Nothing is better than sitting down with friends and family and enjoying a nice home-made meal. Nothing else really matters during that time. Being single and living on my own, I don't get to indulge in this much anymore. However, when I do, it is with great pleasure.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

All the things I'll get to do when I'm done with the Navy. I'm proud to serve, but I can't wait to be free to travel as far as I wish whenever I wish to do so.

I also believe that every now and again instead of asking "Why?" we should be asking "Why not me?"

On a typical Friday night I am

either having a few drinks with friends, working on a project, or spending some quiet time alone.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

The term "admission" assumes that I have some kind of secret. Being that I am a rather open person, I don't feel that I have anything to "admit" to. So far I've given a basic view into my inner workings. As pictures are usually pale in comparison with reality, you can expect the same between my profile and myself.

You should message me if

You take an interest in any of the above. Or if you'd like someone to talk to. However, please no nonsense. I like worthwhile things in life, not petty games.
