My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey everybody!

My name is Matt. I have two degrees that say I can be quite the smarts but anybody who knows me will tell you my focus is on being playfully genuine. Intimacy for me comes in two flavors, tender moments and gales of laughter. I'm looking for somebody who respects herself, wants to join me in becoming the best version of herself, and won't mind cuddling turning into full blown tickle fights... And vice-verse, of course. I am a devout yet ever bumbling Christian so I am looking for somebody to practice playful holiness with.

I'm looking for somebody who notices beauty but remembers kindness. There's nothing more attractive to me than a person who is kind to others, wants to be kind herself, and knows she deserves every kindness. I don't want to convince her she is valuable, I want us to be busy making the most of that value and valuing one another. I want somebody I can be silly, sincere, playful, and passionate with.

When I was 7 I announced to my mom that I had reconsidered being a paleontologist after having a dream where my wife watched me dig from behind a chain-link fence. I told me mom I loved dinosaurs but didn't want to be away from her and my family so I'd have to do something else. So if you're looking for a boy who appreciates you, there's no bigger deal a boy can make than giving up dinosaurs for you before he even knows you. No, seriously.

Oh, um, INFP.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I completed my masters degree, went on to be a high school teacher, and am now getting my second masters in social work (clinical therapy). At the moment I work at a homeless shelter as somebody who is on-site and available for conversation with anybody.

In my free time I enjoy reading, going birdwatching, writing handwritten letters, following soccer, baking for fun, playing practical jokes, hoping for a pilot's license, and messing with my little sisters. I've been both skydiving and shark-diving (each time in New Zealand). I once organized a midnight game of capture the flag using different colored glow sticks. I have pet fish and frogs. If life ever finds a rhythm, I plan to return to the stand up comedy scene.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening. I enjoy being creative and coming up with personal gestures for people... and practical jokes. As in, when my friends lose something, sometimes they don't even bother looking for it and just ask if I took it. (Pfht!) I love to cook and bake, always looking for an excuse to throw out a nice meal.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
How young I look for my age. Usually right after they ask if I'm excited to be going to college or driving. Sigh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Little Prince, Ender's Game, anything by C.S.Lewis, Michael Crichton, etc. Calvin & Hobbes. I'm an avid reader so there really is too much to list.

Food: Mexican food. I love to cook and bake in general though. I make a mean Cinnamon Chicken, Oreo Cheesecake, Buffalo Chicken Pizza, and a number of other things. I currently work at a pizza place that serves gourmet pizza too (think toppings like jalapeno ranch, 3 hour braised pork, balsamic vinaigrette, and potatoes with bacon). Weakness for pastries. Do not abuse this information.

Music: The Beatles, oldies in general, Jazz, classical, Sinatra, Sufjan Stevens, Yann Tiersen, IZ. Currently learning the ukulele. Harmonica is next.

Movies/TV: Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, The Big Bang Theory, Firefly, Castle, BBC Sherlock, Now is Good, Modern Family.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Sincere moments
Mexican food
Making people laugh/Playfulness
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What it means to be human, my desire to share my life with somebody, relationships in general, Mexican food, ways to make people happy, and the US national soccer team.

And now the upcoming Star Wars movies being made by Disney. Will they be good? Will they be bad? [pulls hair]
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If it were up to me, I'd be spending one on one time with a friend. I enjoy small group settings more than party scenes.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
... is most likely whatever you'd like to ask, as long as you're asking sincerely.

This isn't private per se but I'm not perfect. Nor do I expect you to be. Being a very thoughtful, compassionate person means I can at times feel drained or down. I like helping people but that also means when something strikes me as cruel I can be angry, needing time to vent. And I'm not above a bad day that turns me temporarily obstinate. But I deeply pride myself on how I come back from those moments and look forward to cherishing those who are patient with me in return. For me it is enough to be actively committed to improving yourself, to becoming more fully alive, and taking responsibility. I'm much more bothered by a minor fault you refuse to acknowledge than a larger fault you readily own. So long as I can trust you'll always recommit to whatever your struggle may be, I will forgive and support you endlessly -- because that's what I need too.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
... you're attracted to kindness, tenderness, and enjoy being young at heart. I'd rather be voluntarily cared for by the girl next door than be obligingly cared for by a supermodel. And on another note, I don't think a date that ends in friendship is a failure. If they aren't happy with you as a friend, they don't deserve you as a beloved. I'm pretty awesome and I want to be with somebody who knows she is awesome too -- not because she's my beloved but because she's herself. Because she is God's beloved.

As a Christian I'm looking for somebody to help me not only develop my heart to its greatest degree but also confront my deepest struggles. She will never be alone in her own experiences, joyful and fearful alike, with me.

*Finally, I find women attractive certainly and sexuality is an incredible aspect of loving somebody. I want to give and receive it fully. But, if you have a picture meant to advertise your chest more than your face, that's a huge turn off. That's not what gets my short term attention and, if it's what you think you need to do, you won't hold my long term attention.
