Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I grew up in the New York suburbs and went to school in upstate New
York, but now I can finally say I'm a New Yorker without feeling
like I'm lying by omission. Since moving to Manhattan, I've been
walking several miles every day, exploring as much of the city as I
can (who likes taking the subway?!). So far I've gotten lost in
Central Park several times, but fortunately made it out before
sunset each time.
I'm usually up for doing pretty much anything: from getting lost in
the city, to hiking, to just hanging out watching a movie or
playing a board game (Cards Against Humanity is great, and they get
nerdier from there).
With all that said, I'm hoping to meet an intelligent person who
doesn't mind laughing at immature things.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm an engineer at a fairly well-known tech start-up. Basically, I
wanted to work at a place where I could wear shorts yet still be
treated as a responsible adult.
I'm also trying to leave the city a lot more. I recently went to
Beijing for vacation (without knowing any Chinese - that was
interesting), and plan to travel more both domestically and
international. I have a massive list of destinations, and I'm
adding to it faster than I can cross places off.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh--whether it be from an intelligent quip or a
really stupid joke. Sometimes both at once.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My shaved head (I'm not from the future, though)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Movies: The Incredibles, the recent Batmans (Batmen?), The
Prestige, and the Back to the Future trilogy. That's just a random
selection to give you an idea, at least. There's way too much to
list. My Netflix queue keeps on growing as friends point out movies
I haven't seen. I can't keep up!
TV: My all-time top shows consists of Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Game
of Thrones, West Wing, and Parks and Rec. I'm also a huge fan of
Lost, Arrested Development, Community, and The Simpsons. I seemed
to be cursed with getting into shows after they've finished. Next
on the list of shows that I need to (binge-)watch is The Wire. I
tend to overanalyze whatever I watch, which includes reading an AV
Club article for every episode.
I'm big into rock (classic and new) and alternative. It's hard to
name a favorite band, but recently I've been listening to a lot of
Arcade Fire for some reason. I've also been to a bunch of Dave
Matthews Band shows, but I'm not a hippy! Anything but country,
really. Best concert I've been to was Tenacious D, where Jack Black
was about 5 feet away from me. Magical!
I can be persuaded to eat most any type of food. Favorites are
Italian and Mexican. Honestly, just keep me away from sushi (please
don't hold this one against me!).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Friends and family (the last two were the cliché ones, so I've
grouped them as one)
My car (I've sold it since I moved to the city, but I can't bring
myself to remove it from this list)
NYC online event calendars (how else could I know which overcrowded
outdoor 80s movie viewing is the best?)
Chipotle burrito with Sriracha sauce
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to stop myself from singing along with my music on the subway.
This was never a problem when I commuted by car.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
...out at a movie, at a bar (preferably a dive bar or a beer
garden), having dinner with friends, singing loudly at karaoke,
board gaming (I'm a pro at Apples to Apples - trust me), spending a
lazy night in with Netflix, or any combination of the above.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I can't stand ketchup. The only possible explanation is that I've
blocked out a traumatic experience. I have several overly-elaborate
working theories on what that could be.

...you have similar interests. That's a good enough reason to start
a conversation. I'm looking for the sweet girl with a head on her
shoulders. Being a goofball is definitely a plus!
