I am nerdy, idiosyncratic, and loyal.
My Self-Summary
Where to begin...Oshawa born-and-raised, I would love to travel
more if I could. Ah, the burdens of being a university student.
However, I have some good stories of Europe if you're
interested.
I'm somewhat inquisitive, and have a passion for learning; I'm
always open to discussing
philosophy and social patterns.
While I'm not typically very active, I do enjoy some sports;
typically, those which test me against myself, rather than
competitive. That said, I do really enjoy
Paintball (woodsball or fieldball
only! No speedball, thanks!), and
Squash. I occasionally play
Golf, and used to very much
enjoy
alpine
skiing, but haven't been in years.
I enjoy
cooking
for myself and for my friends, and do it as often as I can. I
prefer computer games to console games, but am by no means addicted
to either. I spend a great amount of time
reading.
...now for the clichéd stuff that happens to be true. I enjoy
sunsets, long walks in the park, and long, meaningful discussions
about topics with a lot of grey area.
Oh. And I can admit when I'm wrong.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: I read a lot, so I don't have any specific favourites, but I
recently suggested Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" and "Neverwhere"
to a friend. Simon Travaglia's "Bastard Operator From Hell" stories
amuse the hell out of me.
Movies: "Serenity!" I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan, so it should come
as no surprise that my second on this section is "Dr. Horrible's
Sing-Along Blog". Also starting to wear down the plastic on the
cases for "Lord of the Rings" and "Monty Python and the Holy
Grail".
Television: Pretty much anything by Whedon, but you knew that.
Firefly deserves special mention. Criminal Minds, Chuck, Dexter,
Heroes. NOT Reality TV.
Music: I'm eclectic. I can listen to anything from Bach to Opeth to
Weird Al, and back again. The only music I won't listen to is
anything which discriminates or is otherwise hateful. If it's
talking about how "X(person/people) ain't nothing but
Y(pejorative)", I don't want to hear it. Otherwise, I'm willing to
give anything a shot.
The six things I could never do without
1) Soda. I'm addicted to the sugar and caffeine.
2) Chocolate. Love the stuff, from White all the way to 90%
Cocoa
3) My Computer. I built Timber Wolf myself, and it is in many ways
a tool through which I run my life. I'd be pretty lost without
it.
4) My friends. They help to keep me sane...ish.
5) iPod Touch. Same reason as my computer.
6) Access to books. I'd go crazy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life...the universe...everything, really. I just wish it didn't all
keep adding up to 42.
In all seriousness, I think about pretty much anything that pops
into my head. Religion (especially comparative theology), politics,
mythology, philosophy (metaphysics and ethics, mostly), sociology,
romance, events, ideas, good TV, the various ways to interpret
quotations...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm almost incapable of making a good first impression online. In
person, I'm somewhat charming, or at least easier to talk
to...online, not so much. It's why I prefer to meet someone in
person if I can.
You should message me if
You read pretty much anything above this and went "hmm. That's kind
of interesting".
