My self-summary
Everyone seems to give the reason they are on okcupid, here is mine... I work during the week and on the weekends I am usually off doing one random activity or another with friends or family. I always feel like there is something more interesting to be done rather than sit around and wait for life to present itself. Problem is rarely does it leave time to truly meet anyone. Typically by the time I stop to decompress it's Sunday, a day not known for its social magnetism between singles.

I am up for just about anything but over time I have developed an allergic reaction to clubs and lets just call it the "bar scene", I need a place for a good conversation. When it comes to bars my thing is low key, "dive bars", off the path, the hole in the wall etc... Places I enjoy take no more than 5 steps to serve you a drink. The music and atmosphere of a place should be around you not inside your skull.

Going out to eat is pretty much my favorite thing on earth. I love food all kinds from the experimental, to the traditional, to the classics, if it’s good I want to try it. I have gone so far as to drive hours at random to get food I have a craving for. As I write this I have a craving for a sandwich I had in Philly last year and no it was not a cheese steak. I am a firm believer that a good meal is what life is all about and that a world renown restaurant can and does have competition from the most unknown of places, like a local chili place that does it just right.

Also I have unfortunately not traveled much as of late. That is going to change in no short order. I love short little random trips on weekends almost as much if not more than weeklong travel plans. When I get to a new place my first priority is to find the best and most interesting place to eat. A meal can tell you more about about the soul of a town than any museum or tourist trap.

My family and friends are the most important part of my life. They come before anything else for me and I would hope that you feel the same way about yours. It’s important to me that whoever is out there share that point of view.

Other:

I love huge storms. I don't know why I just do.

When I was a kid all I wanted to be was an archaeologist or an explorer. I was never the fireman type.

I drink Whiskey (Irish, Scotch and some Bourbon). I infrequently drink beer.

I love a good conversation and I frequently find myself talking with strangers about anything and everything.
What I’m doing with my life
Not sure how to answer this. I guess I am just living it as best I know how. I work way more than I should. My job is a bit more demanding than I would like but such is life. I am an engineer for a control systems company. I try and do as much as I can when I am free. See above for specifics.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh.
Cooking.
Finding great restaurants and bars by accident.
Reading people.
Starting a camp fire.
My job.
Fixing anything broken.
The first things people usually notice about me
Not sure. I am kind of hard to miss as I am relatively boisterous so I suppose that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My tastes in everything are pretty diverse so I will do my best to keep it short.

Authors: Chuck Palahniuk, Hunter S. Thompson, Lewis Carroll, George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, Bret Easton Ellis.

Movies: The big Lebowski, Shaun of the Dead, Ghostbusters, The Original Karate Kid, Payback, The Rocketeer, Layer Cake, The Patriot/Braveheart, PCU, Fight Club, Amelie, Trainspotting, American Psycho, Fargo, Goodfellas, Snatch, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Up, BTTF, Falling Down, Beetlejuice, Office Space, Blazing Saddles, Anchorman, Grandma's Boy.... This list goes on... I like movies

Shows: Walking Dead, Justified, Louie, Shameless, House of Cards, Hell On Wheels, Archer, Top Gear UK, No Reservations, The Office, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Family Guy, Boardwalk Empire.

Music: Everything although my favorite band is Flogging Molly.

Food: My two favorite types are Cajun and Thai. Also I love Asian noodles places... I am a pizza snob and have a weakness for anything with Chili. I love to find new food and places to eat. It is one of the driving missions in my life.

*Please take note I am a Theater junkie, I used to work in the business and my love for it never died. Last two shows I went to were Book of Mormon (Original Cast) and Silence! The Musical, Based off Silence of the Lambs. Comedic musicals are my favorite.
The six things I could never do without
My Family/Friends/Dog. (My dog counts as family so do my friends.)
My fireplace. (Nothing is as relaxing as a fire)
Great food.
Conversation
Good Tea. (I can't live a day without tea, I drink it more than water)
A good knife and multitool. (Everyone should carry at least a knife they are too useful not to.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Being in the middle of no where living in a log cabin or hut on the beach with my dog. Taking it slow and enjoying life.

The most random things you can imagine. The inside or my brain plays out like a collection of nonsense strung together when it is not being put to a specific use. Kind of like the cut away scenes in Family Guy. This is in all likelihood some type of ADD brought on by years of working in theater.
On a typical Friday night I am
As of late doing laundry which is exactly why I am on here. Please save me from the perils of sorting and folding.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Nothing. It's bad enough having an online dating profile. Why add insult to injury?
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 23–34
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
I want to have someone around me who is working for the same goal, having fun, being happy, and together. If that works for you send me a message.

Recent addition: Do not message me if...

You plan on asking me how much I make on the first date (this has happened more than once, I do just fine but that's no reason to ask it's rude), are too immature to appreciate alternative views on subjects you feel passionately for, are apathetic when it comes to life, do not believe in bettering yourself, do not like dogs, incapable of managing your own life, dislike chivalrous men, hate anything I mentioned in other sections.

I know these seem extreme to present up front but I am tired of finding out halfway through a date the person across from me doesn't share any of my key values or worse yet hates them.
