In terms my career, my greatest passions lie in research, although I am strongly considering medicine as well. I aspire to be a scientist, but I also want to spend part of my life teaching. Through research I can give something back to mankind while fulfilling my curiosity and learning about a ton of fascinating things, but from a distance. By teaching, I can have a direct impact on people, hopefully inspiring them in some way or another.
My life goals are to have a positive impact on humanity by contributing to our knowledge in whatever way I can, helping make life for people in any way easier, more enjoyable, and/or more fulfilling, and raising a happy family.
Working full-time as a research lab technician. Right now I'm bridging the gap between molecular genetics and neurobio in an attempt to better understand the underlying mechanisms of autism and intellectual disability.
I have spent more than half of my life making music. Over the years these experiences have shown me that few things are more purely gratifying than creative expression, though of course, everyone is different. My creative pursuit of choice is music. When I play, the rest of the world with all its problems disappears. It's almost like a meditative state; I'm in the moment, deeply focused on the music and the role that I, along with others who may be with me, play in our creation. But I'm not really thinking, only being. I experience feelings and emotions that can't be explained, and it's beautiful in a meaningful and fulfilling way. Although learning the theory and nuances can at times be frustrating, I can hardly associate any negativity with music. All the work pays pays off tenfold when it becomes art. I think this applies to all of the fine arts. Jazz is my favorite genre and I play most of the traditional wind instruments.
It really blows my mind how all of existence, everything that is and the small piece of that which we can actually perceive, came to be. This spurs my fascination for how everything around me works. I am a passionately curious person. To me, it's beautiful how everything falls into place so neatly and perfectly within everything else to make up what we see (and don't). Every new bit of information adds a layer of complexity which leaves me in awe of the sheer depth of everything around us. The more I learn, the more I feel connected with everyone and everything.
"No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable." - Socrates
I.e. I spend a lot of time pursuing swoleness.
I'm a good listener
I have a unique way of thinking about things
How I'm perceived.
My thoughts are generally a jumbled mess, frequently jumping from one thing to another and interspersed with random musical fragments every few seconds. There are times when I have a thought or feeling I don't understand, sometimes because it happens so quickly. Other times, I can't put it into words. Sometimes words do a pretty bad job at explaining thoughts and feelings.
