Your Notes
Edit your notesI am consciously living, technomadic, and an experience junkie.
My Self-Summary
Most other places on the web, I go by 'Serolynne' - which is a hybrid of Serotonin (the brain chemical of happiness and joy) and Adrenalin (the brain chemical of adventure).
That sums up my life nicely. I find joy in adventure, and adventure in joy. And I love encountering others who are living life on their own terms driven by their passions.
I think I've found a great confluence of fulfilling my desires for wanderlust, geeky gadgets, adventures, connectivity, community, professional pursuit, volunteerism, sustainability and new experiences.
I'm an entrepreneurial tech consultant with a hodgepodge of backgrounds. I aim to embrace my generalist nature instead of chasing after the allure of delving deep in one interest and excelling in it.
I love soaking up new experience, spending time with inspiring people (ahem, you perhaps?) and generally living life on my own terms. My travels tend to be routed on visiting awesome people and attending a variety of events - and then finding amazing scenic routes to move between them.
What I’m doing with my life
------------
Current Travel Update:
Our vague and always manifesting upcoming travel plans:
Through mid-November - Southern CA (current: San Diego)
Nov & Dec - Moving towards St. Louis, getting our kicks on Route 66, for Xmas - with a month long stop at amazon.com's distribution center in Kansas to try our hand at 'workamping' by helping out with the holiday shipping rush. Basically, getting paid to work out for a month.. hopefully it'll be a fun experience!
Jan - Aug 2010 - No clue! Ideas?
Late August 2010 - Burning Man!
All dates are on NST - Nomadic Standard Time (ie. subject to change based on nomadic serendipity.)
Places that we consider to be home bases (and thus including regularly in our routing): Black Rock City, San Francisco, Austin, St. Louis, Oregon, Seattle, Orlando/Tampa, Atlanta, Southern CA, etc. So be in touch even if our immediate plans don't include your vicinity, our plans can sometimes rapidly change.. and tempting offers can easily divert our plans. :)
I’m really good at
I'm also quite good at navigating, organizing things, enjoying the moment, finding scenic routes, figuring things about on the fly, thriving with the challenges placed in front of me, conserving resources, mixing drinks, making yummy one-pot meals and adapting to my ever changing surroundings.
--
On the flip side.. despite the lust for life I tend to exude, I'm really quite introverted, and often get mistaken for an extrovert when I'm in my comfort zone. I much prefer smaller gatherings to huge ones, and I prefer to be quiet rather than fight to interject amongst a group of more extroverted folks.
The first things people usually notice about me
For others, it might be the wiggle in my every move, my confidence in myself, that I have natural rhythm with whatever music I'm dancing to or that I'm wearing no make-up and may have not shaved my legs recently.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
So.. my best stab at this:
(a) Non-fiction about personality, philosophy, sociology, travel, transhumanism, conscious living/life-by-design, life hacking, sexuality or relationships, and perhaps an occasional sci-fi book.
(b) Sci-Fi, Adventure, Indie/Quirky, Classics, Musicals, Animation, Comedy.. but keep the chick-flicks far away from me, please! I actually enjoy watching TV series on DVD quite a bit - a well done long story arc over a long time is quite satisfying.
(c) I seem to have no capacity for remembering artists, songs, lyrics, or music trivia. I will probably groove to whatever you're playing - but just don't expect me to be able to converse intelligently about it. If there's something good playing, I can't resist dancing (sometimes with fire).
(d) Tex-Mex, Indian, Ethiopian, Thai, Sushi and Italian are some of my favorites. I don't eat mammal (if you can shave it, I don't eat it) and I love tart frozen yogurt.
The six things I could never do without
* A space that I can call home to recharge at
* Well designed mobile gadgets that connect me to the world
* Physical touch - cuddles, holding hands, caressing, long deep kisses and sex.
* Versatile shoes that can traverse mountains and dance the night away
* Quality time with cool people
* Hot showers with yummy smelling bath gels (bonus when combined with quality time with cool people!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How the world is so large and small at the same time.
How people everywhere are more alike than they are different.
And how wonderful nomadic serendipity is, and that if you let go - things will work themselves out.
What mischief my nomadic kitten will get into next.
On a typical Friday night I am
A sampling of my more recent Friday evenings:
- Organizing a campaign field office in rural Nevada
- All Night Dance Celebration Rave in a UU cathedral
- Fire dancing at the International Camel Races
- Organizing a 4-day dance party aboard a double decker bus roving around Macworld launching a new iPhone application
- Camped deep in a Tennessee forest.
- Making out with two awesome guys on the bow of a wooden effigy ship.
- Watching a rocket ship take off in the middle of the desert while wearing a glowing elwire wedding dress after having our commitment ceremony officiated by an ex.
(Do you get the idea?)

But I will share here:
I've been actively polyamorous since 1992 and am quite "out" about it, and so is my partner. Like, been in the media "out".
For me, poly is about consciously choosing how many and what type of romantic relationships fit in your life at a given time. This has varied quite a bit for me over the years - from being in loosely extended networks to a buy-property-together quad.
A rather new experience for me is one central committed relationship, and it seems to be working for me. I'm not actively looking for romantic relationships, and I'm not even sure how they'd fit into a nomadic lifestyle. But, I keep an open mind and heart to the possibilities.
For now, I'm mostly keen to friends, tour guides, cool people to meet in our travels, chat buddies and have a fluctuating openness to flirty/snuggly/smoochy ambigusweetie level friendships that could possibly turn into more in time.
---
I consider myself sex-positive. To me, this means I value and appreciate sex, and the connections it adds. It does not mean that I have to prove I'm sex-positive by being sexual with anyone who asks, that love has to be expressed sexually to be meaningful or that love has to be present to enjoy sexual exploration.
---
I'm firmly childfree-by-choice and don't even have the parts anymore. I enjoy cool kids just fine - but I don't ever want to be a primary care giver.
---
Oh, and about the bi/straight thing. I wish I could mark this as 'N/A'. My sexual attractions are actually rather fluid. I am finding I am currently significantly more attracted to men than women tho.
You should message me if
You look at life's challenges as things to victoriously and creatively overcome, not as convenient excuses for not having the life you want.
You'd like to meet up and show me something cool as I pass through your area. Or, you're a nomad too and like to rendezvous with other nomads.
You have parking space for a small trailer and would enjoy having some cool temporary neighbors - or wifi/hot shower/hot tub to share. :)
You know of an event or something I should check out in my travels - I love recommendations of things to do and see.
You'd like to converse about anything I've mentioned - I love chat buddies.
