My self-summary
Have been wanting to the do the canopy tour through the tree tops on a recumbent bike that was shown on a segment of Florida on a Tankful. Anybody feel like biking up in the air while looking at some real Florida landscape? Besides looking for fun things to do here in Central Florida I spend a lot of free time on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Atlanta, Georgia was the latest and longest place before a move to Florida. I have been single for seven years. I have a graduate degree in Spanish literature with a French minor. When I am on break the travel bug bites and I head off somewhere with a CheapTickets.com fare in hand to re-discover myself in new surroundings. I am restless, independent, and empathetic

What I’m doing with my life
In 2010 I traveled to Costa Rica three times, London, England for the Christmas holidays and Buenos Aires, Argentina. I love how the places I have been resonate in me and create subtle changes in my way of thinking. Flying around Costa Rica in the passenger seat of an auto-gryo is my newest passion. Nothing like low-altitude flying in an open-cockpit aircraft to explore the beauty of a natural paradise like Costa Rica. Went to Carete on the Osa Peninsula in March 2011 and Rincon de la Vieja volcano just this past July ! When I am not traveling I am hard at work teaching high school French and Spanish, a job that is never boring but frequently tiring!

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books are a vital part of who I am. Authors who matter are (in no particular order) : Milan Kundera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende, Arturo Perez-Reverte, Thomas Hardy, Pablo Neruda, Vargas LLosa, William Faulkner, Vladimir Nabokov, Leo Tolstoy, George Elliot, Edith Wharton, Margaret Atwood, Joyce Carol Oates, Dan Brown, Thomas Friedman, Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Flannery O'Connor and Oscar Hijuelos. In non-fiction I study the teachings of Eckhart Tolle and try to put them into practice.

On the music side it is extremely difficult to list just a few. Here is what is on my IPod frequently played list: Jarabe de Palo (Spain) Tryo (France) Alain Bashung (France) Juanes (Colombia) Bebe (Spain) Journey (US), Ojos de Brujo (Spain) Chet Baker (50s American jazz trumpetist) Seal (England) Sting (England), Manu Chao (Spain, France) Sergent Garcia (Spain France), Bebe (Spain), Soprano Demon One (France), Bryan Adams (Canada) Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks (US).

For movies my tastes lie in foreign and independent: Pedro Almodovar; Woody Allen; Robert Altman; Eliseo Subiela, Merchant-Ivory, The Coens, and any French crime drama. Actors and actresses whom I admire are Javier Bardem, Gael Garcia, Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Day-Lewis, Jonathan Rhys-Meyer, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Penelope Cruz, Carmen Maura , Kate Winslett, Helen Mirren, Jack Nicholson, Meg Ryan and Paul Giacamo (?) sp.

The six things I could never do without
1) internet - my French word of the day by Kristin Espinasse, looking up words in WordReference.com, trying to decipher my French, Spanish and Argentine friends' Facebook posts, listening to music on Youtube, reading the Onion, Huffington Post, my friend Ronni's blog and the NY Times online

2)books - fall asleep reading most nights

3) music

4) traveling - Prague, Milan, Casablanca and Santiago de Chile are on the list

5) family and friends

6) discovery - deliberate and / or random...there is great joy in learning ! I love the saying "once a mind has been stretched by a new idea it never returns to its previous state"

I spend a lot of time thinking about
people, relationships, how to be a better teacher and finally, being present in the moment. I am trying to think less and be still. Ninety-nine percent of human thought is repetitive they say. We humans tend to grind on the same couple of thoughts that define our neuroses or complexes.

On a typical Friday night I am
loving the peace and quiet of my home and disconnecting from the hordes of noisy teenagers I deal with all week - watching a good movie from Netflix - talking on Skype with my friends around the world - catching up programs I recorded on the DVR box - planning where to go see some live music or ride my bicycle.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have struggled with my weight most of my life. They could have a reality show based on my efforts alone. No, I have never had surgery of any type. Managing my weight has been about rigorous self-control and determination.
