My self-summary
I'm an English PhD Candidate in Michigan, but originally from California. My interests are pretty broad: from activities such as trail-running and basketball, to playing video games and watching movies. I spend most of my time working on lesson-planning and writing, but I'm always up for exercise and entertainment - all work and no play...
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently teaching a freshman English composition course, as well as outlining my dissertation. When I'm not working or writing, I am usually at the gym for a morning workout, catching up on shows like Supernatural or The Big Bang Theory, or just reading articles from blogs like io9.
I’m really good at
Talking with people and helping out whenever I can. I have a pretty good rapport with people that I'm in usual contact with: students, professors, and colleagues. Honestly, I'm not the most talkative person, but I defintiely enjoy one-to-one conversations. Of course, I do tend to go off subject every once and a while...
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm always smiling. Even if every day is a deadline for grading stacks of papers, submitting conference proposals, or just academic paperwork in general. But I'm pretty good with keeping high spirits, even when things are utterly hectic...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Listing all of my favorite books, movies, and shows would take up an insane amount of space - so I'll just stick with naming my top three:

Books: The Posthomerica (4th century), Journey to The West (16th century), and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1962)

Movies: The Breakfast Club (1985), The Lost Boys (1987), and Go (1999)

Shows: The Twilight Zone (1959), The Outer Limits (1995), and Farscape (1999)

Music-wise, I enjoy pretty much any kind of genre. Yet I still find myself listening to groups like Tears for Fears and Simple Minds. When writing proposal abstracts or grading papers, I usually have Pandora up and am listening to the "Tears for Fears" or "80s Alternative" radio.

I enjoy any and all food, except for strawberries - I'm allergic... but if I had to be specific, Italian food would be my top pick. Nothing beats a healthy serving of manicotti...
The six things I could never do without
-The internet
-Green tea
-Mp3 player
-Film/Television
-Friends & Family
-Red bell peppers
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My upcoming conference presentations in D.C. and the UK; as well as the Intro to Film class that I'll be teaching this summer! For the conferences, I'm still trying to find the right theorists to use for my discussions on Once Upon a Time, Grimm, and Teen Wolf. I've decided to theme my intro class - going with the horror genre - so now I'm trying to figure out which 14 (!) horror films would be worth screening...
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually hanging out at the apartment, and de-stressing from the week, by either catching up on some TV shows or playing video games.
