I prefer melo songs with traditional instruments. I find background music and Classical music to be enjoyable and relaxing so I listen to it often. My favorite Composers are the well known composers like Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Pachelbel, Debussy, and Tchaikovsky.
New: I'm addicted to artists like Ani Difranco and Vermillion Lies. Does anyone know of similar sounding artists?
I find it hard to list favorite books because I enjoy reading, and most books I have read, I have liked. I really enjoy reading Sarah Waters' novels. The Girl with a Pearl Earring was good as well as Tamora Pierce's Trickster series. White Fang and The Lord of the Flies are among my all time favorites. I enjoyed the Harry Potter series when I was a kid, but I prefer to read books like Dorian Grey and Lolita now that I am older and can appreciate the classics. My least favorite book was Oliver Twist. The only things that could probably be a worse read than that would be picture books, high school text books, and perhaps science abstracts. Edit that. Portes was a horrible read, but I'd rather read that than Oliver Twist.
Favorite Books so far:
Anne of Green Gables Series
A Little Princess
The Secret Garden
Little Women Series - Little Men was my favorite
Pride and Prejudice
Dandelion Wine
The Abhorsen Series
The Keys to the Kingdom Series
Harry Potter Series
Lord of the Flies
Julie of the Wolves
White Fang
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep
Six Things I never leave the house without:
Phone(for the time and games for when I get bored, oh, and communication) Derp. I need a watch.
iPod
Book bag - yeah, I'm always going around with my book bag, because I might have to do some studying. Sadly I am most inept at this.
Gum(for breath just in case)
Macbook(I might need it at some point)
Debit Card(In case I need to buy something like advil or dinner)
Keys(dorm and/or car)
Six Things I could never do without: Can this be about nonphysical things?
1. The Ability to Read and Write: Literacy
2. Academic Resources - The Internet - Databases anyone? Libraries are nice, too. I'm just waiting for an entirely virtual library, where any and every book can be read via .pdf or some other format. Three Cheers for Academia. Too bad it stifles creativity.
3. A Friend - Doesn't always have to be the same friend, but camaraderie is always nice.
4. A Warm Bed, and a place to sleep. I'm lucky to have all of these provided for me.
5. Self-Reliance: The ability to rely on myself - Still working on that, but that's a part of growing up.
6. Self-Respect - Ok, so I thought that listing Mazlow's hierarchy of Needs to be a little too nerdy, so I'll simply list self-respect. I already have aspects of it in the other 5. Self-Reliance is different than Self-Respect in that, I could be reliant without a good view of myself, but I think they both work well together. I need to respect myself, or I will never push myself to succeed in reaching my goals.
7. Europe--- What!? Ok, I'm thinking too abstractly. I'm just kidding. My thought processes are too crazy to be translated onto this profile. I need to go reorganize my thoughts. XD
Philosophical views that I agree with:
Humanism
Agnosticism
Skepticism
Positivism
