I am powerful, passionate, and open.

My Self-Summary

I joined this site to make some new female friends. I am not here for sex, and I definitely don't want to hear from men soliciting sex.

There are many things I want to do in life, and never enough time and money to do them. As a result, I tend to dabble, start projects and never finish them. My interests are varied, and I'm looking for someone to share adventures with, to go shopping with, to bake cupcakes with, who likes kids (I have two daughters) and gets along with my husband geekyman.

I enjoy taking pictures, miss karate lessons, am trying to teach myself tasseography, have a trunk full of wool, ribbon, and beads for crafts, a sewing machine I don't use nearly enough, and I love taking walks through urban green spaces.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm growing my family and figuring out what's really important in life. I love my job, but I work to live, and my family will always come first. I'm very happy with where I am in my life right now. I don't know if I'll ever be able to do all the things I want to do, but that's probably a good thing, right?

I’m really good at

I make the best pie you've ever had. The recipe was my husband's grandmother's, so I can't share. ;)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love cheesy vampire movies, urban fantasy books, industrial music, and loose-leaf tea.

I used to read a lot more than I do now, but then university happened, and I think I'm still suffering brain overload. Right now I read a lot of young adult novels and fluff. One day I'm sure I'll get back in to more serious stuff, but not just yet. I own around 1000 books and have read most of them. My library card is well-used, and I frequently make use of inter-library loan. Some of my favourite authors include Holly Black, Brian Froud, Garth Nix, James Gurney, and I will confess that I own most of the Sookie Stackhouse series.

I almost exclusively go to the theatre for movies big on special-effects. I figure that's what the big screen is for. So lots of sci-fi and fantasy, especially adaptations of all those kids books they've been doing since Harry Potter became a household name. Otherwise, I like British humour, so movies like Shaun of the Dead are definitely my cup of tea. When I'm feeling silly, I can't say no to Dodgeball.

I don't watch a lot of TV. We don't even have cable, and have been without it for at least five years. Almost all the shows I watch, I do so with my husband, so both of us have to really enjoy it to get through a season. The kind of shows that keep our attention are Dexter and Heroes, and we're waiting impatiently for more Doctor Who. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my husband into True Blood, but I watched it anyway! I'll probably have to do the same for the new Joss Whedon series Dollhouse.

My favourite band is Tool. I love really heavy music by bands that almost never get played on the radio here (not that I listen to local radio). I figured this out using internet radio stations that played music based on stuff I liked, and discovered a whole lot. I usually only listen to music at work, though, and enjoy silence at home (when the kids are asleep)!

Tea is a passion of mine. I love learning about it, trying different kinds, figuring out how to brew it and serve it properly, and will happily trek to the far corners of the GTA to find more. My current favourite is Ti Kwan Yin ... mmm, oolong. I avoid bagged tea whenever possible, but am not so far gone that I refuse to drink it. ;) Even bagged tea, when brewed properly, can be quite nice.

Also, bacon is awesome.

The six things I could never do without

Tea, bacon, chocolate, Guinness, books, my family.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How I'd spend a significant lottery win. (I'd buy a house in the country and do a lot of travelling.) I day-dream a lot, and it's usually not about this world.

On a typical Friday night I am

At home, playing World of Warcraft.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

The books were bad for so many reasons, but I'm looking forward to seeing New Moon in the theatre.

You should message me if

You're female and ...

You can find joy in the simple things in life.

You want to go to tea.

You think we might get along.

You want a museum/baking/crafting buddy.
