I am multifaceted, loyal, and handmade.

My Self-Summary

I'm a romantic realist. A bit of a paradox, I know, but it really works. I think things look better through rose colored glasses but I appreciate the necessity of an occasional slap in in the face.

I like the great outdoors as well as the city.Canoeing, hiking, camping, skiing, and poking around in streams float my boat- so do shopping, eating out, dancing, museums, art shows...etc. I like playing games (video/card/board/word) and listening to audiobooks, taking scenic drives, drinking cider, planning trips, making things for my friends, and exercising while I watch tv.

I am cynical, sarcastic, and irreverent, and I value the merits of grammar and spelling as well as hygiene. I have a great or possibly terrible sense of humor that involves simultaneously cracking sophisticated jokes and doing crude interpretive dances at people. Banter is a must.

I'm extremely shy but I've developed the defense mechanism of talking a lot when I'm uncomfortable, so I probably confuse people. I'm very loyal, generous, and thoughtful toward people I like. I'm probably a bit arrogant because I genuinely think I'm neat, but then again I never assume anyone else will agree with me on that point, so I'm not sure.

What I’m doing with my life

I work as a bookbinder (no, I do not use a time machine to achieve this) and run a meetup group in my spare time. It forces me to interact with people.

I’m really good at

Art and design. Lizard catching. I have a great memory and am good at problem solving. Observation.

I think I'm pretty smart, maybe bordering on geeky. I am forever learning things, making connections, running over ideas in my head, and doing puzzles.

I'm good at jumping out at people from around corners. This usually happens to my dad, who screams like a little girl and then smacks me for it.

The first things people usually notice about me

The sarcasm, the glue on my shoes, possibly the shyness and awkwardness.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

No one reads these but here you go:
Books by Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Chuck Palahniuk, Bill Bryson, Naomi Stokes, Dara Horn, Roald Dahl, Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, McCarthy's Bar... poetry by Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill.

Movies: Pirates, Pride and Prejudice, Kill Bill, American Beauty, Amelie, Sleepy hollow, Shawshank Redemption, Shortbus, Boondock Saints, MST3k, Evil Dead, Sweeney Todd

TV/Comics: Eddie Izzard, Dylan Moran, The Office, House, Mythbusters, Survivor, Top Gear some stuff on Discovery and animal planet, Venture Brothers, Out of the Wild, medical shows

Music: I have terrible taste in music according to most people.

Foods: thai, indian, cider, bruchetta, muffaletta, key lime pie, fish, not a vegetarian but not much of a meat eater either

The six things I could never do without

Art, my cat, my sisters/friends, nature, showers, books.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I would love to meet Douglas Adams. I have a massive crush on Douglas Adams, even though he's dead. He and I could go back in time and save the dodo together.

On a typical Friday night I am

Lounging emphatically. My weeks are long and tiresome. My weekends are spent socializing. Fridays are all I have.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I both read and watched Twilight and thought both were terrible.
It's a two-parter. First, I'm ashamed that I saw/read it, and second I'm afraid someone will come beat me up for not liking it.

You should message me if

I'm being careful about dating right now. I would love to meet someone but I'm not going to compromise on the sort of someone.

Things I look for in a man: honesty, intellect, a sense of adventure, lovingness, practicality, maturity, respectfulness. I find that the most loathesome quality of many people today is that they are inconsiderate. Inconsiderate of feelings, of time, of hygiene, of reciprocation, of everything. Whenever I go out to meet someone I try to arrive clean and on time. I pay my fair share, I do romantic and helpful things. All I ask is the same in return.

Beards are pretty sexy. Goatees not so much.
