I'm never entirely sure what to put in these things. One supposes I should try and make it unique and different in order to catch the eye of women looking at it, I believe that is the standard marketing strategy for this sort of thing.

So anyway about me, I'd like to think I have a good sense of humor. I love smiling and laughing and do it a lot. I'm pretty much always in a fairly good mood.

I try to be fairly active walking a few miles everyday. I'm very outdoorsy, but don't quite get out as much as I'd like. I love backpacking, hiking, sea kayaking, whitewater kayaking, and occasionally rock climbing. If you like the outdoors and are looking for someone to go with you on an adventure shoot me an e-mail.
I also regularly practice martial arts, and was an instructor for a few years.

I decided many years ago when I was young to try and style myself as something of a modern renaissance man. As such I have a broad base of interests and talents, I'm pretty much always willing to try something once.

I graduated from college back in 05 and double majored in astrophysics and philosophy, had some notion about trying to learn all the secrets of the human condition and the universe. Or maybe just giving myself the baseline skills necessary to continue that quest. Who knows? Haven't done a great deal with either major since, but hope to get back to school in the future.

I'm also definitely something of a nerd, If that hadn't come through by now I'm making it explicit. Science fiction and fantasy are my favorite genres of movies and literature, recently I've been getting into some comic books and graphic novels. Somehow I missed out on them growing up, not sure entirely how. I also periodically enjoyed watching anime. I do enjoy playing writ tabletop role-playing games with my friends. Although, I no longer really play any computer games and have never really been into console gaming.

So what am I looking for on this site? Good friends, people I can hang out with, have adventures with, or just relax. I don't have a lot of experience with relationships and to be honest the prospect kind of scares me, though it still would be something I'd really like to have as part of my life. So I'm definitely open to relationships, or even just getting a little more experience dating. I know friendship, how to be friend, and care about people. If I seem like someone you'd like to get to know please e-mail me. Finally, I'm really mostly looking for people I will be able to meet in the real world outside of cyberspace.

Right now I'm kind of between things. I graduated from Whitman College in 2005 double majoring in astrophysics and philosophy. Spent a couple years working in my college town learning about the world outside of academics. Also spent some time working on my outdoor recreational skills, though there's still a lot of opportunity for growth there.
Since moving back to Bellingham last year I've been working on a variety of personal projects, mostly trying to focus on my writing and figuring out what I wants to do with my life.
While I would love to be able to become a successful science-fiction author, I see it much more likely that I will be returning to graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in astrophysics or possibly cognitive science.

Scientific Theory

Go work out, then come home and watch a movie, read a book, or work on my novel. Sometimes I go hang out with some friends and play some role-playing games, usually D&D or Shadowrun. I also sometimes go out dancing at clubs or parties.

I'm the sort of person who doesn't like making the first overt move, whether that's approaching someone at a bar, on the dance floor, or in some other social context. However, once the first move has been made and the ice broken, I'm perfectly comfortable taking the lead.
