Sarcastic, Self Depreciating, and Solipsistic
My self-summary Propose an edit
I’m in a bit of a transitional period. I’m thinking of moving
either moving to Carrboro or maybe across the country. I like to
read, I like to debate, and I love it when people tell me am
completely full of shit.
I spend an inordinate amount of time reading political blogs,
magazines and Wikipedia. I listen to a lot of new music, watch a
lot of movies and television. I really enjoy reading pop culture
criticism. Oh and I play a lot of poker online
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Looking for another job, considering grad school.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I use to be a pretty good Scrabble player, but I am completely out
of practice. But I still play a pretty mean game of Trivial
Pursuit.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
My glasses are really crooked. I stepped on them few months ago and
have never bothered to get them straightened. Right after I stepped
on them a random female told me they give my face character. This
may be the reason I haven't bothered getting them fixed, although
the fact that I'm a huge procrastinator has probably played a part
too.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
I haven't read fiction in quite awhile. Probably my favorite author
of "serious" literature is Nabokov. Lolita and Pale Fire are both
great books.
Top Five Woody Allen Films
1. Manhattan
2. Crimes and Misdemeanors
3. Annie Hall
4. Husbands and Wives
5. Hannah and Her Sisters
I also enjoy Altman, Scorsese, P.T. Anderson (Boogie Nights has my
favorite scene
of all time) When I can stomach the whimsy Wes Anderson is good.
Judd Apatow's film work is good and his TV work is
incredible.
Some favorite TV Shows: Freaks and Geeks, The Wire, Undeclared,
Arrested Development, The Office (Both) Extras, The Sopranos, Lost,
Twin Peaks, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Deadwood, Mad Men,The
Larry Sanders Show.
Some Music: Destroyer, Talk Talk, The Mountain Goats, The Hold
Steady, Wilco, Modest Mouse, The Go-Betweens, Wilderness, Guided by
Voices, Brian Eno, David Bowie, Daft Punk, Big Star, Kraftwerk, New
Order, Stone Roses, a lot of classic Jazz (especially Miles
Davis)
I haven't really eaten out a lot lately which is one of the things
I miss. I like really spicy food, Ethiopian and (South)Indian are
my favorites.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
My living arrangements are always spartan, a few books, a computer,
and some clothes. The one thing that I generally have a hard time
doing without is an internet connection because thats where I do
the bulk of my reading. Although I've always hated not being near
large library. The idea of being able to get any book I want on
short notice is comforting, even I don't take advantage of it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
What the hell I am doing with my life
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Fridays (along with 5 or 6 other nights of the week) use to be bar
nights for me, but as I’ve grown older and wiser (read: more
boring) I’ve kind of fallen out of the habit. Not to say I don’t
imbibe, it’s just not generally in public these days.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I have a World of Warcraft account.
