Every one of my tastes in entertainment is some kind of eclectic
mix. Whenever I write about this it degenerates into a lot of lists
and name-dropping that goes on far too long, so here I'm just going
to give generalizations. I'll list examples in my Journal for the
curious.
I'm a fan of sci-fi, thrillers, mysteries, some limited fantasy
stuff, comedy, and informative and/or thought-provoking works
(bonus points for covering technology, logic, dreams, the mind,
psychology, sociology, theology, and the world at large). This is
medium-independent; be it book, movie, comic/graphic novel, TV
show, video game, what have you – as long as you can vaguely
describe it using at least one of these terms I'll give anything
its fair shake.
For films in particular I'm less inclined towards horror unless it
either has a psychological spin or comedy. Cheap scares (or gorn
masquerading as cheap scares, or summer slashers stuffed full of
idiots failing miserably at cheap scares) bore the hell out of me.
Generally horror in any other medium has to do more than just go
"boo," which means I'm far less reserved about it.
And by and large, "romantic," regardless of what medium it's using,
isn't that intriguing to me.
Musically, I listen to mostly rock, though at times I'm a jazz soul
with hip-hop sensibilities. I also dabble in trance, electronica,
and folk stuff. And for a guy who can't pick, the more you blend it
all up, the better.
I'm less likely to listen to pop and I'm especially unlikely to
listen to country, although I don't usually outright dislike either
one.
I'm especially fond of seafood and cheese.
