Creating my self-summary somehow seems impossible without some sort of diorama or five page essay on college rule paper. Still, you guys need something here, some way to index. The truth is, if I could summarize myself so succinctly, I would probably not be here. I have crossed an age threshold, though I can't for the life of me connect how I think to the age that I am. By no means do I feel (or act) like a twenty year old, but I really don't tend to act like a forty year old either. I tend to prefer to be in the company of people in their twenties and thirties who still have more questions than answers; People who would rather debate than argue, who aren't yet so bitter with the world as to give up on it. In truth, I need to be a person in a world of people with artifice dropped and humility evident. I have learned that we become ourselves in the presence of other people. So what does this all mean in the context of this site? I want to capture that feeling of being simultaneously smart and stupid with another person who has the same freedom with me.

I create training materials for corporate customers (and still do some teaching now and then). I have the luxury of working from home most of the time and I travel to customer sites a few times a year. This shift to working from home is what has pushed me to this site. I have hidden in work for many years and been quite successful and respected. However, I have to believe I can be good for someone else and they can be good for me.

Solving problems. I am the youngest of three children and the only boy, so in a family of women I was often called on to smooth over some conflict. This is not to say all women are this way, just the women in my family. I guess it also relates to my lifelong interest in narratives and puzzles. Cause and effect. How does one thing get you to another? Everything is a story. I just like unwrapping it and providing a possible (if often temporary) ending. I guess I ultimately just like things to find a state of equilibrium.

How am I noticed? That's a good question. Perhaps if you are reading this, you'll tell me.They probably notice that I am listening to everything they are saying.

Books: Love epic narratives. Did the Dune Series, Dark Tower series. Just picked up the Game of Thrones series. In school, I loved Faulkner, Welty, O'Conner and other Southern writers. However, the book that made me think the most about the world is "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman.

As for Movies, I like good horror (suspense rather than gore). I like sci-fi and action mostly, but still laugh at the Hangover and most films with Paul Rudd (except romantic comedies. Now that's horror!)

I usually have some series I am drawn to on TV. Right now, it's the walking dead. I am a bit of an MSNBC/CNN news junkie as well. Other series I have liked Battlestar Galactica and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I know geek vibe, but great narratives). Like I said, I just love STORIES. I guess it comes from years of comic books as a kid. I'm really getting a kick out of the new comedy "the New Girl" with Zooey Dechanel. Watching her struggle with saying the word Penis is very funny.

As for Music. I like top 40, but mainly like 80's rock and club music. Right now, I am wearing out the Adele CD in my car. It reminds me of the 50's Mo-Town singers that i listened to on my mother's 45's (if you know what a 45 is, good for you).

My family (sisters, mother, nieces and nephews) and friends.
My eyes. Blindness would not be good for me. I draw, write, and read.
My computer. Not because I love it so much, but it is the crux of my employability.
My imagination.
My books. When all else fails, they give you somewhere else to go.

I have success. I know how to "do" work and school. I have figured out talking "professional" and "successful," but I struggle with how to make a personal life with a partner. Is it really possible to have two people be in love at the same time with each other? I don't know. It's just what I'm thinking about now. It might just be because I just answered 200 questions about relationships on this site :)

One of two places: Having drinks or dinner with coworkers or friends or on my couch watching a movie. Pretty mundane, but I'm working on filling a open position on that couch.

I live by one rule: I will never lie to a direct question.
