My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm laid back regarding most things, but really intense when it comes to work. I've learned that I have a strong nerdy side (pretty sure that's part of the territory when working in education) but normally that only comes out when I'm around people who share that sentiment. At this point I'm equally comfortable hanging out in shorts by a grill, trying to figure out current issues and politics with friends at a pub or presenting issues to a bunch of PhDs in our faculty meetings.

I'm curious, open, opinionated, random, goofy, serious, passionate, casual and supportive as the need arises. But, then again, isn't everyone? The nuances that make each of us special aren't the most easily expressed in little text boxes- so we'll have to grab a cup of coffee and get to know each other for you to find out more!

***Last thing. I'm one of (what seems like) the small handful of people around here who votes democratic and is not a fan of most organized religion. I am somewhat spiritual (and fully aware of how cliche that sounds) and my political/religious views reflect my feeling that we are all here to make the world a better place for those we share it with in any way we can. Because of this I'm very much against homophobia, racism, or systems that ostracize others for things they cannot control and I'm looking for people who share that belief.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work for the university in a capacity where I can see myself making a difference in the lives of students and parents everyday. I love that and am a big believer in doing what you love because if you're not... what's the point?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
stuff. and things. but mostly stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Oddly enough, it's my voice. I've never really thought it was that different but a lot of people seem to think that it's very calming (at least that's the most common feedback I get when doing presentations).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Love movies... have way too many of them in fact. Foreign and independent films intrigue me but I'm also a sucker for superhero movies, horror movies or campy sci-fi.

Books are all over the place. I read lots of different types of things, though lately I've been going for lighter fare since things are often very "real" at work.

Music is also all over the board... I mostly have NPR on while driving so I hear a lot of classical, but love rock, jazz, some folk and R&B when in the mood for it.

Any good food is a winner for me- used to work at a culinary school so if it's good I'll try it, even if it's a bit unconventional.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
*my close friends
*career/something to keep me from getting bored
*internet since it's pretty much how I keep track of what happens around the rest of the world

everything else is pretty negotiable... I'm not really sold on accumulating "things" and while I have some nice things I appreciate there is very little that I couldn't give up if I absolutely had to.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the coming zombie apocalypse and pie. mmmm... pie.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
probably doing typical Friday night things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I may just be checking out your profile to steal ideas for new books to read...

You're interested in meeting someone new, either for friends or for potentially something more. I'd like to find someone to connect with but either way, it's cool just getting to know interesting people since almost anyone can teach you something new.
