My Self-Summary

Blah, blah, blah, don't know what to write, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah

I have a dark, absurdist sense of humor and try to bring comedy into everything I do. Music is a very important part of my life. (I have over 100,000 tracks in my mp3 library.) I enjoy talking endlessly about any topic and I'm also an avid reader who has a special affinity for comic books and novels.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm trying to become a professional fiction writer. I try take in as many new experiences as possible and stay well versed on a wide variety of topics. Go ahead; ask me anything. I'm basically Wikipedia shaped like a person.

I’m really good at

Getting really excited about things most people don't care about, making pancakes and knowing all sorts of obscure trivia.

The first things people usually notice about me

My height and my blue eyes. And that I'm always trying to make jokes even though I only get laughs about a third of the time.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: My favorite writers include Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, Mark Twain, H. G. Wells, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, Hunter S. Thompson, Phillip K. Dick and Stephen King. I also really love Catch-22, Frankenstein, all Victorian science fiction and horror and any sort of transgressive or postmodern fiction.

I'm also a pretty big comic nerd and often read the works of Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Brian K. Vaughan, Ed Brubaker, Mark Waid, Jack Kirby, Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, Frank Miller, Mike Allred and Robert Kirkman and the series Scott Pilgrim.

Movies: Among many others, I love the works of Stanley Kubrick (2001: A Space Odyssey being my all time favorite movie), the Coen Brothers, James Cameron, Ridley Scott (especially Blade Runner), John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Sergio Leone and early Steve Martin films (The Jerk being my favorite comedy).

Music: I love music from all different genres. My favorite bands include The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Opeth, The Cool Kids, CSS, The Beach Boys, Freezepop, The Pipettes, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Manic Street Preachers, Against Me!, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Donovan and X-Ray Spex. My all time favorite band is The Beatles, my favorite song is "The Beat That My Hearth Skipped" by Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip (at least for the time being), and Bowie is my god. I've also recently become a little obsessed with electroclash. You can check out my last.fm profile (http://www.last.fm/user/marcusbrute) but I've only been using it a few weeks so it's nowhere near complete.

Food: Pizza, breakfast food, ice cream and everything else I loved when I was 8.

The six things I could never do without

2. Music (By which I mean good music)
3. Friends (Yes, music comes before friends.)
4. Comic books (Suck it, movies. Comics are way better.)
5. The Internet (Suck it, cotton gin. The Internet is my favorite invention now.)
6. Humor (Mostly black bile but all four are good)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

ideas for stories, metaphysics, time travel, philosophy, how to join romanticism with scientific empiricism, and the secret meanings in the music I listen to (even if they aren't really there).

You should message me if

Any of the following apply to you:

You enjoys adventures, shenanigans or other general mischief.

You know who Grant Morrison and Warren Ellis are.

You have ever had a nigh-religious experience from listening to a great album. (Bonus points if that album is Revolver, Ziggy Stardust, We Are the Pipettes, Cansei de Ser Sexy or The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society.)

You want to watch an 80s B horror movie, discuss metaphysics or explore the universe.
