My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey there. I'm Mark and as of 8/20/14 I am super new to Boston! I am a future librarian and I like a lot more than just books. Actually, if you really wanna get me talking, just ask questions about libraries. Just please, for the love of God do not try to tell me that libraries are "going downhill" or some other asinine version of the same thing.

I'm going to school to get my Master's degree and so far this city has been pretty cool. I got my undergrad in English literature so I also am a fan of book talk. Honestly though, I feel like reading nonstop for two and a half years burned me out on books for a while, ya know? I took Japanese for a really long time and I'd really like to make it back there soon. I've since switched to trying Arabic. I can't find a textbook I like al-kitaab an alif baa suck.

I'm interested in comic books and cats and beer and tarot cards and television and dogs and archery and dumb walks. All of those "and"s are part of a literary device that reminds the reader that there is no hierarchy in the list. I cant remember the name of it. Whitman uses it though. It's a real thing and I like it.

(Most of my answered questions on this site are from 2011. I've given up on trying to reanswer the ones i have different answers to. Oh well!)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Going to school to get my MLIS and taking care of my cat, Starbuck. I'm also trying to find a job I guess.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking to literally anyone. A part of my old job required me to have small talk with really important university donors and guests and it was really intimidating but now I can chat it up with everyone and that makes it really easy to make friends.

I also have a killer work ethic, especially if my reputation is on the line.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Maybe my smile. I used to win lots of "friendly face" awards in kindergarten. But I don't really know. People don't make a habit of telling me what it is they notice about me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

BOOKS
The City and the Pillar by Gore Vidal, Mules and Men by Zora Neale Hurston, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman, Moby Dick by Herman Melville, and to keep the list short, I'll end at Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I read a lot, so just ask and who knows! This is just a short list of my absolute favorites. I decided not to update this list anymore because it's frustrating to keep up. Yo I like books get off my back.

MOVIES
I tried keeping this short...I failed: Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Star Trek (2009), Flash Gordon (1980), Les Miserables, Kill Bill I & II, Wall-E, Marie Antoinette, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Pitch Perfect, V for Vendetta, and literally anything from Studio Ghibli. Seriously, if Ghibli made it or Miyazaki played a hand in it, I love it. I will never dislike a Ghibli movie. My favorite is Kiki's Delivery Service. Followed closely by Princess Mononoke.

SHOWS
Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Regular Show, Ed, Edd, & Eddy, Pushing Daisies, True Blood, Teen Wolf, Tyrant, Halt and Catch Fire, House Hunters/International, Bob's Burgers, Love It or Lost It, Property Brothers, Star Trek (DS9, TNG, TOS), and American Horror Story...I try to keep my television light.

MUSIC
The Killers, Beyoncé, Adele. Those are my mainstays. You're honestly going to have to ask about others because they come and go. Of Monsters & Men, Fleetwood Mac, Streetlight Manifesto, Lorde, Kanye West, Matt & Kim, Iron & Wine, Deb Talan, Johnnyswim, Sia, some bluegrass...it varies.

VIDEO GAMES (because fuck food that's why)
I like Mass Effect, Skyrim, The Last of Us, and Uncharted. I'll play whatever but that's an expensive hobby I can't keep up with.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Starbuck
-Tumblr
-A good library
-Mike Mignola
-The Killers
-Star Trek
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I'm usually thinking about what I wanna do when I grow up. My mind is usually far into the future. I spend a lot of time thinking about comic books. I read a LOT of those. I was secretary of the comic book club at my undergrad.

Also thinking about going on adventures. Like with swords and shit. I need to vanquish evil.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It depends on if someone has made plans. I'm more than willing to get drunk and go to the club, but I'm just as content with sitting on my computer all night or watching whatever is on television. I don't make the plans in my group of friends, so I'm very malleable in that way.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I really want to be a werewolf. They're cool as shit. This isn't private at all. If you know me well enough you know about my unabashed obsession with werewolves.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you're interested in the world and have quirks of your own, I'd love to talk to you! Talk to me about your school, or what kind of future you're looking forward to. I love it when people have things to tell me, even if they don't think I'll be interested.

Also if you've ever gotten seriously emotional over Greek tragedies (specifically Medea or The Bacchae) I'll probably ask to marry you so watch what you say.
