I am academic, lazy, and a foodgeek.

My Self-Summary

I am an archaeologist with a desk that is in need of an excavation. So that makes me truly a desktop archaeologist.

What I’m doing with my life

Studying old food and writing on my PhD-paper. Sometimes I dive into medieval recipes and try to cook some of old and strange food I can found in there. I have recently just finished interpreting a medieval cookbook, so those of you who can read Swedish will have a chance at cooking Danish 13th century recipes.

I’m really good at

... cooking ancient or medieval strange food, stay up late at night, being snobbish about the beer I drink, having great unrealisable ideas, being a food & history geek in general.

... making piles of books, papers, kitchen utensils, spices etc.
... accidentally knocking down the above piles

The first things people usually notice about me

my beard?
That I am more or less a part one of the furnitures in my favorite caf.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

a) Borges, le Guin, archaeological & culinary nonfiction
b) Greenaway, Python, Fellini
c) Waits, Cave, Cash
d) Tiramis, Renaissance figs, Saffron pie

The six things I could never do without

good beer,
good chocolate (dark),
good friends,
good food,
my books,
sleep

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My thesis
What I am going to do once I have to face the real world - and the real world seems to be closing in.
A medieval cookbook that I am trying to write.
The role-playing campaign that I am hosting for a few friends.
The state of the world in general.
...and food, well food as a phenomenon at least. How we relate to food and drink, what the choice of a cuisine can tell about a person.

On a typical Friday night I am

having a beer with friends or home trying to finish something before a deadline

You should message me if

if you have any questions about old food...really old food, at least three centuries old.
