My Self-Summary
I work business hours as an "IT guy" in a two-people operation, I'm in the middle of bachelors in computer sciences at Concordia (after a 12 years pause from academia) and I'm thinking of minoring in linguistics. I'm completely fluent in French and English, and I look down on people who can't write good. Last summer I volunteered most of my week-end as a First Responder or security on various cultural events. I'm a Montrealer born and raised, but every year the call of the countryside become harder to ignore (well, in the summer at least).
I get my daily news from The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, the BBC, PRI and Democracy Now. I'm cynical about the state of the world but positive and trusting with people I meet.
What I’m doing with my life
I’m really good at
Active listening and conflict resolution.
Following standards and procedures.
Cleaning and organizing other people's homes and offices.
Performance bondage.
Summarizing and synthetizing.
Sleeping in noisy environments.
Flirting with the LGBT crowd.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Movies) Blade Runner, Memento, Fahrenheit 451, Carlito's Way, Platoon, Pulp Fiction, Horloge Biologique, Borat, Taxi Driver, Logan's Run, Soylent Green, 2001, Full Metal Jacket, Dr Strangelove, The Corporation, Control Room, The Usual Suspects, THX 1138, Trainspotting, Wargames, Requiem for a Dream, Pump up the Volume, Run Lola Run, Clerks, Chasing Amy, The Cube, Alien, Wag the Dog, Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Reservoir Dogs, Grosse Pointe Blank, High Fidelity, Killing Zoe, Four Rooms, Black Hawk Down
Music) Trance, Classical, Pop 80's. Also a lot of cheesy 90's dance, the "Future Trance" compilations and instrumental music in general... I don't care much for lyrics.
Food) Mexican and Italian. I often snack on good bread dipped in olive oil and parmesan. Chocolate makes me happy. Baton Rouge baby back ribs. HUGE eggs-potatoes-bacon-fruits-pancakes plates on Saturday mornings.
Special bonus: TV Shows) House, The Daily Show, The Sarah Silverman Program, The Colbert Report, Law and Order (all of them), Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons, Spooks, Real Time, South Park... And the defunct ones: Battlestar Galactica, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Oz, Futurama.
The six things I could never do without
A driver's license
Chocolate (Nutella is an acceptable substitute)
Hot water showers (indoor plumbing is so under-appreciated!)
Kinky, outrageously creative sex
MILSPEC gear
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- US and international politics
- the freedom of submission and the responsibility of domination and being a service top
- how could I make everyone's life a little bit better today
- what am I gonna eat
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You should message me if
I would add open-minded, but that's almost as vague and as bad a cliche as "someone who can make me laugh".
