My self-summary
My eyes change colors. I'm a little obsessed right now with craft brews. I'm passionate about compassion and justice. I wear dresses because it makes me feel girly. Baking cakes makes me feel accomplished. When I drive, I roll the windows down and sing as loud as I can. I can build a one match fire and man a canoe like nobody's business. I can't imagine life without Wikipedia. I dream of owning a hybrid and having solar panels on my roof. I love to get dressed up and go out for special occasions, but I'm just as happy to spend the day exploring the city and the evening at home with a few friends. I'm a pro at making do on three hours sleep and then crashing for twelve the next night. I try to learn something new everyday. My faith is the most essential part of my life.

I'm looking for the perfect Amazing Race partner. The punk to my rock. The wit to my banter. The one who makes the every day feel like an adventure. He must love silliness, tolerate NPR, and be willing to make all the important phone calls. Facial hair and glasses don't hurt either.

I am bubbly, compassionate, and talkative.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a nurse at a hospital in center city on the night shift. I like my unconventional schedule. I coordinate the gift shop at my church's museum. I'm working on my MSN to become a Nurse Practitioner. I'll be done by Fall 2014.

Three things I'd like to do right now:
1) Travel. Niagara Falls? Disney World? Any National Park in the country? Afternoon in NYC? Yes and please. I need a travel buddy!
2) Geocaching. It seems really fun and I'd like to try it out but I don't know anyone that does it. Please teach me to be nerdier than I am.
3) Beer. I never really liked beer, but awhile ago I went to a beer tasting and gained a whole new appreciation for it. Now I'm just enjoying sampling new brews. I've gotten pretty good with being able to pick something I'll like, but I'm still intimidated by certain varieties. IPAs, I'm talking about you.
I’m really good at
I'm good at being random, awkward, and 5 minutes later than I meant to be. I also have a pretty impressive memory. That's going to make you want to test it, isn't it?

I'm NOT really good at making decisions. But to put a positive twist on it, I'm a pro procrastinator and I can definitely go with the flow.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile. And my hair. It's probably my most distinguishing feature.

Also my friend just called me the coolest nerd he knows. I'm pretty proud of that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I love to read! The Anne of Green Gables Series, anything by C.S. Lewis, The Ragamuffin Gospel, Emily Dickinson poetry, Pride and Prejudice, Gone With the Wind, A Tale of Two Cities, Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger, Pathologies of Power by Dr. Paul Farmer, and A Generous Orthodoxy by Brian D. McLaren. I love to read the "classics", most recently Emma and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I read Hillary Clinton's autobiography which made me want to hug her. I'm not above reading what's popular at the moment. Right now I'm reading El Narco: Inside Mexico's Criminal Insurgency and Philadelphia: A 300 Year History.

Movies: Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, Life is Beautiful, Harvey, Memento, Monty Python's The Quest for the Holy Grail, Top Gun, When Harry Met Sally, Fight Club, Gandhi, 50 First Dates (I cry every single time I watch it even though it's silly!), American President, Knocked Up, 500 Days of Summer, and Amelie. Lately I love nothing more than French films. Go subtitles. I love documentaries in an unhealthy way. Whenever I have free time and nothing else to do, I watch documentaries on Netflix.

Shows: How I Met Your Mother, Dexter, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Downton Abbey, Law and Order: SVU, Covert Affairs. I'll watch pretty much anything on HGTV.

Music: Well...I listen to 104.5 and that should give you a general idea of my taste. But I love so much other stuff too. Right now I'm addicted to Ray Lamontagne, Jason Mraz, Ry Cooder, Jewel, Hootie and the Blowfish, Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, and Cake. Add the Fratellis, Adele, Mumford and Sons, and a strange obsession with Pitbull.

Foods: Thai, Asian fusion, Chinese, Ethiopian, my grandmom's mashed potatos, dessert, red flannel hash, really good Jersey Italian, croissants, scones, animal crackers, anything peanut butter, guacamole, Greek, sushi, french fries, breakfast (all of it!)

Worth mentioning. I've also recently become a big fan of public radio/podcasts. My favorite shows right now are This American Life, The Leonard Lopate Show, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, A Prairie Home Companion, and Thrilling Adventure Hour. I'm always looking for new ones.
The six things I could never do without
1) Bunny, my stuffed bunny. What a creative childhood mind. I've had him since I was 5 and he's still a total security blanket. I need to know where he is in order to sleep.

2) Faith and all the wonderful people I've met because of it

3) Facebook...it's the only way I can keep up with all my friends scattered all over the world

4) A book to read. And/or my Kindle.

5) Some kind of chapstick.

6) My color coded Google Calender.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics. I try to keep up on what's happening in the world.

Also ways to reduce my carbon footprint and how hard it is to follow through on all those ideas and all the good habits I need to develop to do them.

How to be a better person in general.

Plans for my next adventure...hypothetical or otherwise.
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't really have a typical Friday. I work three out of six Fridays. When I'm not working I'm either hanging out with friends and doing something random and fun, visiting my parents in Jersey, or enjoying a quiet evening at home trying to find the time to do all the things I didn't do while I was working the other nights. I'm always up for an adventure though!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't sleep without an eye mask and earplugs.
I am hopelessly clumsy.
I really enjoy crocheting.
I own ducky footie pajamas.
I once built a 7 level tower out of sugar packets. I have never been able to duplicate this, but I occasionally enjoy trying.
I’m looking for
  • Straight guys only
  • Ages 26–38
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If you think I'm fascinating and wonderful.

If you're a hipjackster. Ask for details.

You have male answer syndrome. Yes, it's real.

You want to drink seasonal beer with me.

You have a bulldog and/or a fire pit. I'm all about urban campfires, smore roasting, and puppy snuggles.

You're a Christian who can embrace my "liberal" leanings. Or a liberal who can embrace Faith. I know, it's asking a lot.

Don't bother messaging me if you: are going to whine and give me a hard time about coming to the city and having to deal with the parking and traffic, are only looking for a hookup, think it's ok to cancel a date by text message, or are going to send me a lame impersonal form message.
