My self-summary
Time to rewrite this whole thing again. Whatever I wrote in the past is probably still true, but I really feel like I might be able to describe myself better now. One or two(ish) drinks might have something to do with that.

The long and short of it is that that I like people and enjoy spending time with them, but I don't like to impose. I'd love to have a girlfriend, but I'm unsure how to balance that with work and the recreational activities that define me as much or more than what I do for money. I'm my own person and I most likely always will be, I just think it'd be nice to be my own person with someone who's her own person too :).

For the rest of it, I put down "athletic" for a body type and that's actually true. I've been running a lot lately, and rock climbing and doing yoga, training up for the NY Tough Mudder 7/12. I'll let you know how it goes.
******EDIT: The Tough Mudder was AWESOME. Note for next year - do more dips, get better at pullups, WEAR SUNSCREEN!!******
More importantly, I'm trying to figure out the balance to get good at all the things I want to be good at. It's not a simple task for all that I'm trying to do!

I dream of someday moving back to Oregon, and of getting back into scientific research, but I have to acknowledge that for a while at least I'll be doing this job in this place.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying my job immensely. With all the budget cuts for basic scientific research I haven't been able to use my BS in ecology so I've had to fall back on my associate's degree and work on industrial/municipal computerized control systems. It's challenging, stressful, irregular, and quite frankly a blast. Still, I dream of getting back into science, and maybe utilizing the computer skills I've been honing for the last couple years...
I’m really good at
Computers, languages, science, running (I guess), rock climbing, getting up on time, getting places early (conversely, I'm bad at not getting places TOO early :P ). Tracking personal statistics.
The first things people usually notice about me
I guess I must give an impression of assurance or confidence or something because keep assuming I'm a manager when I'm in a store grocery shopping or something.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My all-time favorite book is the Count of Monte Cristo. I'm hard pressed to give a favorite movie or show because I really don't do favorites like that. I don't watch tons of movies or tv shows; I'm pretty picky, but mostly that sort of stuff seems better to watch with people. For example, I'd probably like to watch something like Walking Dead some time, or Parks and Recreation, or whatever, but I really don't feel like watching it alone so I don't. I enjoy a lot of anime and I'm pretty picky about that too, but it's a lot harder to find someone to watch that with so I don't hold off.
The six things I could never do without
A comfortable change of clothes.
Something to work on.
A chance to get a really good workout in.
Computer/internet.
Some time by myself.
Some time with other people.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Industrial control systems. Political and social issues. Workout routine design. Diet. Science. Self-improvement. Lots of stuff, really.
On a typical Friday night I am
On Friday evenings I generally visit my parents for dinner - it's a nice chance to unwind and catch up after a busy week. I like having a tradition like that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once ate an entire batch of shortbread by myself. I still don't much like shortbread cookies.
