My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hello! I'm a (almost) 30 year old single mom to one (almost) seven year old girl - that is an important fact, right? I spend most of my time at home, I love to read, a LOT, like at least a book a week, do crafty things, and I blog in a few places. I am a writer, and I usually either have my head in a book or I'm writing in a book.

I like long walks on the beach (seriously, I really do), going to movies, art shows, fairs, etc. I love the warmer months and hate the winter - I'd swim every day if I could, I'm one of those "water babies" you could say. Otherwise, I'm not so much of an outdoor girl. I scream at bugs (but not snakes) and don't like to get dirty.

I don't really enjoy going to loud bars, clubs, or parties, but I will brave the noise and crush every once in a while at the request of friends - as a single mom, getting out sometimes can be tough - I'm currently "free" every Monday and Tuesday night and can be available weekends, and like to spend that time out with friends. Some would call me a very boring person. This may be true. However, I am confident that there are other people just like me out there and maybe one day I will find one of you.

I think it's important to say that honestly, my ideal man is a guy who works hard at no matter what he does, is always honest, and has goals in his life and a drive to achieve them. I would like nothing more than to have a relationship with a man who enjoys staying home and reading, watching movies, playing games, talking, having dinner, and relaxing contentedly without feeling like you are "missing" something. Then again, there are times when I want to go out and party down, so hopefully you (whoever you are) will like that, too.

I am nice, bookish, and laid back.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working full time at a job I both love and hate equally as much, going to school almost full time, taking care of my kiddo five days a week, reading whenever I get a chance *thanks Kindle for iPhone* and trying to make a living writing.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Catching bugs out of thin air with my bare hands - it's gross, yes, but it's a valuable skill.

I'm also really good at writing papers - essays, research papers, critiques, you name it - I'll get an A on it. I considered being one of those people who write other papers for money, but my morals got me. Heh.

Aw man, books? I have like, a hundred favorite books. How 'bout the ones I can read and re-read over and over again?

The Passage, Justin Cronin
East of Eden, John Steinbeck.
I Am Legend, Richard Matheson.
A Simple Plan, Scott Smith.
A People's History of the United States, Howard Zinn.
The Vampire Lestat, Anne Rice.
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, Hunter S. Thompson.
The Dive From Claussen's Pier, Ann Packer.
Hrm... that's seven...
And oh heck, just about anything Stephen King has ever written.

Movies.. I like watching movies. Favorites are: The Big Lebowski *nothing compares*, Fear & Loathing, American Psycho, Very Bad Things.. I seem to like humorous movies that have very f'ed up themes. Honestly, I am more of a TV watcher, although I haven't had cable in years.. I am a Netflix user and tend to get a lot of TV shows... All time favorites are: X-Files, The West Wing, Lost, Dexter, ER, Weeds, Six Feet Under, House, Jericho & Desperate Housewives - boys, don't knock it til you try it. Oh, and I have a history of watching Waaaaay too many documentaries that make me cry. Truth hurts.

Music... I don't expect anyone to like the music that I like, but would be pleasantly surprised if someone could share a bit of this enjoyment with me. My favorite bands are either geriatric or dead. The Cure, Bob Marley, Siouxsie & the Banshees, David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, Cocteau Twins, Peter Murphy, Psychedelic Furs, & Everything But the Girl. Can you tell I went through a goth phase in high school? Don't worry, all I retained from that period is some of the music and some leather. However, I do quite enjoy these also: Imogen Heap, The Postal Service, Hellogoodbye, New Order, Elliot Smith, Saint Etienne, Stars, The Strokes, The Submarines, and er.. Britney Spears - it's a guilty pleasure. Oh! And The Shins. Can't forget the Shins.

Foods you ask? I like food. If we're talking genres, I'd have to say I like Mexican the best, followed by Italian, followed by dessert. Fried clam strips should be its own food group in my opinion, but all other seafood is BLEGH! Yes, I'm THAT GIRL who hates sushi. I'm a really, really picky eater, and I am not going to apologize for it. I'm also not going to cave into "C'mon try it, just try a little bite." Been there, done that, grew up. I LOVE going out to eat in new restaurants though. You want to go on a date? We're eating! But watch out.. bananas will make me projectile vomit.. like magic!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
my daughter,
my family,
my best friends,
the internet,
& my Macbook.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Oh, all sorts of things. I've gotten quite politically minded in the past few years, so I do spend a lot of time huffing and puffing about all the messed up things going on in our world and especially the U.S. (Pay attention here: if you are conservative or a registered Republican, please do not bother messaging me. Sorry.) (Actually I'm not sorry.) I also tend to think quite about about the future..specifically, how the hell did I get to be 30? I still feel 19. Where the heck is all the time going and where will it lead me?

But you see, I'm one of those writer types. My wheels are always spinning.

(Also? Sex.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
at home with my kiddo.

Well. Hrmm. Meaghan isn't my first name. I can't bring myself to give up the name to the online-dating masses. It's kind of a doozy.

Also, if you've made it this far down the profile, I suppose I should tell you that at this particular time, what I want to "get" out of OKCupid is to date someone casually and have sex on a regular basis. I am not husband shopping, or even looking for you to spend the night. The whole night, I mean.
