I am inspired, optimistic, and inquisitive.

My Self-Summary

I'm pretty liberal, I hold spiritual/religious views of some sort (you might call it undecided mysticism). I like people, but I think I'm also rather choosy/fickle. I'm a fan of outdated musics like funk, soul and classic rock, but I'll listen to a good variety of stuff. My girlfriend's been pushing a lot of different musicks on me, and some of them have stuck. Hurray for variety!

I used to have a thing for astrology, but I haven't thought about it for a while. Haven't missed it, really. I'm a Cancer, with Leo my rising sign, my moon in Taurus, and my Venus in Gemini.

I no longer have a TV. I do not watch your shows. I will not be watching your shows until I have reached a level of boredom so abysmal that I must pay a cable company to come in and take some of my excess time away from me. Some of my biggest heros are stand-up comedians. Some of my biggest heroes are also Heroes.

I like to draw and write, and make music, but I've never been dedicated enough in the past to make anything out of these hobbies. I'm looking to change that in regard to writing (and periodically amaze myself with bouts of willpower!).

I just realized that my pics make me look like a dick. Eh. Maybe I'll change them someday.

What I’m doing with my life

Starting a new life back in KC. Making teeth, idly hunting a new job, doing capoeira with the KC folks, staying in shape, trying my hand at fiction, and so on. I just moved into my first studio apartment wheeeee it's actually very nice.

I thought about going back to school, but I'm not so sure about what I want to do anymoar. And I'm fine with that. When I know, I'll go back. Sound simple? Good.

I’m really good at

putting ideas together. Turning the unfortunate into the hopeful. Finding inspiration. I'm a pretty good public speaker and problem solver (for other people; my own problems can lie around forever like a rake in tall grass, until they hop up and whack me in the face). aclockworksoul says I'm getting much better at not freaking out *goldstar*

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes maybe, or my build. I'm not ripped or anything, but increased capoeira training is giving me a "top-heavy" look.

Actually, they probably notice that I'm chronically late... I have a broken concept of "hurrying". Or they might see that I'm lost in space on one topic or another. I'm often pretty happy and peaceful, even though I don't always wear it well. Those who stick around long enough pick up my good moods easier.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) Moliere's "Le Misanthrope", Camus' "The Stranger", Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", Hesse's "Demian", Goethe's "Faust", Shakespearean tragedies. I'm a big fan of old warrior epics like Gilgamesh and the Munster Cycle (Irish legends). Anything Warren Ellis does (Transmetropolitan, Crooked Little Vein, etc). I read a lot of non-fiction too, as I am a colossal nerd. Also, lots of personality/self-help books.

(b) The Doors, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, Grosse Pointe Blank, Bend it Like Beckham, City of God, Shaun of the Dead, The Warriors, The Road Warrior, Pulp Fiction, Little Miss Sunshine, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fiddler on the Roof, Willow, Uncle Buck, Rocky Horror, Syriana, Babel, Ran, Seven Samurai, The Magnificent Seven, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Se7en, The Seventh Sense. I recently saw the Exorcism of Emily Rose and loved it.

(c) Parliament, Funkadelic, Pretenders, James Brown, Rolling Stones, Alanis Morrisette, Counting Crows, ZZ Top, Johnathan Richman & the Modern Lovers, CAN, Sigur Ros, A Tribe Called Quest, the B-52s, Billie Holliday. I'll stop there for now.

(d) I'm not picky, I really like to cook and make just about anything (that boils down to anything I can make in a frying pan, as my gf can attest). I usually have a mostly-full jar of peanut butter around. I have adventurous taste-buds, but I like pretty basic stuff too. I try to eat healthy.

The six things I could never do without

love and camaraderie. the outdoors, though I'm not often there. Music. My dreams and goals. Getting out of myself every once in a while. the material necessities/comforts (food, drink, R&R). A good conversation.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

past interactions, future possibilities. projects that I'd like to take up.

speaking of projects, I decided recently that my idea for a comic/graphic novel/whatever is good enough actually become something good. So I spend a lot of meaningless hours at work thinking about the characters I am rapidly falling in love with. I even get around to committing these thoughts to paper, sometimes. (LAZY)

On a typical Friday night I am

doing capoeira with the capoeira people, then maybe going out with them somewhere or visiting my close friends. Or maybe coming back to my lonely apartment and writing or surfing the net for webcomics.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've taken the quiz here several times, and I keep on getting different answers. Years back I was the Backrubber. Then I was the Poolboy, then the False Messiah. Then I was the LAST MAN ON EARTH... damn. And I took it today and ended up as the Gentleman... whaa? *scratches head*
