So, here we go! My name (on here at least) is Megs_1981, I'm a public servant (but don't hold it against me), and I'm looking for someone awesome.

Working, eating, drinking, sleeping mostly... Am hoping to do some travel (to Indonesia or the UK) this year or next.

I have played piano since I was 7, and dabble with a few other instruments every now and again like harmonica, ukulele and piano accordion. My prize possession is my sewing machine, where I whiz up toys and clothes and even occasionally sell things around the place.

Music: My taste in music is alternative and varied. Favourites include Ryan Adams, Iron & Wine, Feist, Gillian Welch, Joanna Newsom, Tom Waits, Amanda Palmer, Nick Cave and many others. I'm a sucker for a good ballad.

Reading: I read a variety of books, from super-trash like Jacqueline Sussan cult novels, to the latest recommendation from Oprah's Book Club to Jane Austen. My favourite books include We Need to Talk about Kevin, by Lionel Shriver, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, by Thomas Hardy, and Beloved, by Toni Morrison.

Movies & TV: I will watch pretty much any movie except horror ones (and ones with zombies). I think Anchorman is hilarious. TV wise, I've recently gotten into Community, and I still maintain the first 5 seasons of LOST are good quality TV.

Hmmmmmm. I'm tempted to write the old 'hierarchy of needs' answer (ie food, water, shelter, etc.) but in the interest of creativity here's an alternative list, in no particular order:

* Internet access. (Maybe not *never* do without, but it's an important part of my life)
* Music. Both playing and listening to.
* My sewing machine. It's good to have a creative outlet to balance out my work
* TV/movies. Both quality and trashy alike.
* Good food and wine. Also crappy food and cheap wine.

Most likely at home drinking wine, or out having a quiet drink with a friend. I've never really been one for clubbing, as I prefer to go somewhere where conversation is possible...
