My self-summary Propose an edit
I've been hanging around this place for a while it seems. My story
has changed subtly the past few years, but only due to changing
jobs, apartments, friends, and weight.
I was born about 4.9 miles from where I'm sitting right now.
Between then and now I have lived in Tempe and Mesa, and I'll
probably end up in Tempe again at some point. I went to ASU for a
year and a half, aiming for Art Education in hopes of becoming a
high school art teacher. That aspiration changed when I got a job
with KidzArt and taught after school art classes in the Scottsdale
area for a year. It was a bad introduction to the world I had been
imagining for myself, but needless to say, I don't really want to
pursue teaching any longer. In fact, I have kind of scrapped the
whole art thing, the more I think about it. I'm not sure why, but
nothing triggers that part of me anymore. From 2003 to January 2008
I have worked at different Best Buys, while trying my hand at
different retail jobs (i.e. Rainforest Cafe, and QT). My most
recent job failure was with VUDU, (a company that was developed by
the guys who made TIVO) where I found myself back at Best Buy, but
not in the blue polo shirt. I don't even know why I'm taking the
time to tell you this. Everything I have said in the past handful
of sentences has been mediocre at best, and says nothing about
myself.
My name is Melissa. I had to move back in with my parents because
all of our incomes are failing. I need them, they need me. I
stopped going to college for multiple reasons, and I'm scared that
I'll never find the courage to go back. I want to write children's
books and screenplays. I've had a constant problem with losing
weight, but I'm fit. I seem to have a problem with keeping my room
clean, but every other room is tidy. I'm a great person to have a
beer with. I'm spontaneous with the right people.

This place has brought me people that I don't seem to have
chemistry with. They're great people and all, but I haven't clicked
with anybody. Stories are fun to have though.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I'm working at a fire sprinkler design company where I answer the
phone and archive plans. I'm starting to learn how to use CAD,
which is pretty neat. I sometimes drive up to Prescott and drive
around and find places to hike. The altitude gives me issues with
my lungs and brain function, but it's nice to use less of those
every once and a while. I spend a lot of time daydreaming and
trying to get off the fence about things. I'd say 75% of my
thoughts are used for imagining myself somewhere that I'm not.

I can't speak for others, but when I look in the mirror I tend to

My immediate family, the gift of sight, fresh air,
something/someone to laugh at/with, water, and a place to escape.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
People, things, places, conversations I wish I'd had. What I'll be
doing this time next year. What it'd be like to finally look like
how I feel. How in the world people get over the complete
destruction of their city/town/home/things/families/lives. What
childhood anecdote I would tell on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Not where I want to be. I used to always be out, but now I am
perpetually in.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
There are nights when I can't sleep without a nightlight.
