My self-summary
I am queer and a feminist, and those two are probably the most prominent parts of my identity. The personal is very, very political to me and I find it difficult to turn off my mind. I am always analyzing, dissecting, discussing.

I have devoted my life and my work to activism. I am writing my dissertation in this field, I work for various online publications, and I volunteer my after-hours time to various feminist online venues. This makes me a very busy person, but I would not have it any other way.

I've gotten around a lot, literally and metaphorically. In the past 15 years, I've moved once a year on average - sometimes to a different country, sometimes just down the street. I've done a lot of serial monogamy, and just recently I was involved in very serious polyamory. I have had some wonderful relationships and been with some awesome people and I don't regret any of the choices I've made. But, cliche as it sounds, I'm in a place now where I want something stable and committed.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a PhD candidate and I work as a graduate assistant. When I'm not doing research, I'm raising some hell in the name of feminism and preparing for my future career as a professional sex-educator/academic/hippie.
I’m really good at
Talking. No, I swear, I can talk for hours about nothing in particular and sometimes it's even entertaining. Also, listening. And no, that is not a contradiction.
The first things people usually notice about me
Most days, probably my dress. I like bold colors, and especially pink. Beyond that, I've been told by a lot of friends that their first impression of me was that I'm distant and aloof. This impression is usually proven wrong in very short order, however.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(a) The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand; the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling; anything by Terry Pratchett; lots of Jonathan Kellerman; other faves include Audrey Niffenegger's Time Traveler's Wife and Annie Dillard's Pilgrim at Tinker Creek; recently I have discovered Gillian Flynn's novels and love them all; ANYTHING that has vampires in it (b) The Velvet Goldmine; The Rocky Horror Picture Show; Kissing Jessica Stein; Out of Africa; the HP movies; Garden State; every vampire movie ever made, no matter how crappy or bizarre (c) Too many. I'll just list the first ten bands/artists that come up on iTunes: Eliot Smith, Backstreet Boys, Silverchair, Tegan &Sara, Placebo, Mumford and Sons, Jewel, Ani Difranco, Barenaked Ladies, Voltaire; I also like some Goth, classical and opera and I know RENT by heart (d) I've recently discovered that I would probably qualify as a foodie, and I find everything surrounding cooking and food exciting. When I cook, I'm most at home in Mediterranean cuisine, but I'll try just about anything. If you want to collect bonus points with me, try oatmeal raisin cookies.
The six things I could never do without
literature, the internet, chocolate, caffeine, my friends, sex, love, summer, my computer.

I know that's more than six.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sex. Books. Stories I am working on. Politics/Philosophy/Issues I m passionate about. Vampires. My studies. Music. My friends and lover(s). My plans for the future.
On a typical Friday night I am
There's no typical Friday night. But I will say that I'm mostly done with the partying-phase, and if I'm not at home, I'm probably playing Risk with a bunch of friends, or sipping wine in a quiet bar.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am a series addict. I start watching series on TV and then I fall for at least one character or find myself in at least one story line and then I have to watch it every week, and buy all the DVDs as soon as they come out (and re-watch them on a regular basis), and listen to the soundtracks, and randomly quote characters or cite episodes when talking to friends. I've started looking into 12-steps programs.

Series I cannot live without: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawson's Creek, House, ER, GLEE, Star Trek and Grey's Anatomy. I also occasionally watch, CSI, Law & Order and Criminal Minds and anything else that involves dead people and crime solving.
