My self-summary
I'm not currently seeking relationships on OKCupid, but I'm open to meeting friends here. I find the OKCupid algorithm to be pretty good at predicting people I'd like to spend time with. I'd like to hear from you if we have a high match percentage, or if things like entrepreneurship, transhumanism, or rationality are your kind of things.

I value honesty and transparency and want to be around people who are similar.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working on various projects relating to rationality, the singularity, unusual approaches to politics, and tech entrepreneurship. And I occasionally work (mostly as a programmer) on a couple of startups I founded in Taiwan.

I'm focusing on making excellent use of my time. Less TV and aimless internet browsing; more creative projects (mostly writing, and playing or composing music), martial arts, plotting elaborate schemes, reading great books, and attending amazing events.
I’m really good at
I'm good at focusing on what's important and letting go of inconsequential things. It's hard to offend or anger me, and I forgive easily.

I choose my principles carefully and live by those, rather than by present social norms.

I can bench-press my bodyweight.

One time I looked after a baby for three hours and she didn't die.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Fiction books:
Cryptonomicon, Enduring Love, Fight Club, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality a.k.a. HPMOR by Eliezer Yudkowsky, Northern Lights a.k.a. The Golden Compass, The Fountainhead (I'm not an Objectivist, and Ayn Rand was a charity-hating intolerant homophobe...but I still like The Fountainhead), Time Enough For Love

Non-fiction books:
Capitalism and Freedom, Guns, Germs, and Steel, Non-Violent Communication, The Autobiography of Ben Franklin, The Ethical Slut, The Singularity Is Near

Movies:
Brick, Dr Horrible, Fight Club, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Memento, Requiem For A Dream, The Dark Knight.

TV shows:
Archer, Arrested Development, Firefly, Game of Thrones, the first few seasons of House.

I also really like TED talks. If you like TED talks too, I probably like you, or at least find you interesting.

Music:
Bach, Cafe Del Mar, Chopin, Electric Six, Fiona Apple, Gershwin, Infected Mushroom, James Blunt, Massive Attack, Muse, Nirvana, Portishead, Radiohead, Shamanix, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Sonic Jihad, The Donnas, Thomas Newman. Also I like club hip hop. I sometimes play the piano, mostly classical, and occasionally I write songs.

I mostly follow the paleo approach to nutrition.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think Erica Jong was on to something when she wrote:

"Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more."

But myopically seeking love is probably the wrong approach to finding happiness, and to finding love. There are plenty of fulfilling attachments people can form; let each relationship find its natural state.

My personality profile currently shows me as less love-driven than average. I think that's probably misleading.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody

  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
