My self-summary
Salutations! So, a bit about me... I've got a rather profound
interest in studying history, I'm always one who's up for random
travelling adventures, outdoor activities, reading an exquisite
novel, pacing through a fine museum, trail running out in the
wild... I'm an avid would-be writer, and I try to jaut down as much
as I can everyday; typically stories of historical fiction,
sometimes with a dabble of fantasty thrown in for good measure! I'd
like to think that I have a keen appreciation of the ridiculous.
What I’m doing with my life
At the moment, I'm following a career in luthiery and extremely
passionate about it. I love crafting things, and have been doing it
for years professionally (the making of guitars and other stringed
instruments if you didn't know)... and sooner or later I want to
tromp about Europe and start visiting my long list of must see
historical sites. To further that goal, I'm also running my own
business in the Finishing trade (stains, glazes, clearcoats on wood
furniture, cabinets, etc). I'm industrious!
I’m really good at
I'd say I'm very well read? I probably know a lot more than I need
to about all aspects of history and literature. I'm also fairly
decent at distance running. I've been playing guitar and bass for a
long time now, and just started learning to play piano... Most of
my friends are musicians too, and we collaborate a lot together on
different projects.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm sure that the first thing people notice about me is different
for each person... but.. I don't know, my smile? I smile a lot...
or maybe my distinctively pleasing aroma? Ha. Personality wise, I
think people notice that often I'm very upbeat and chivalrous.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Well, as far as books go... Alexandre Dumas, Arthur Conan Doyle,
Bernard Cornwell, George MacDonald Frasier are some of my most
esteemed authors. And Shakespeare! Lots of Shakespeare!
I'm pretty picky about my music and listen to what most people call "Indie music" (though I would sub-divide that genre up even more) The Shins, Belle and Sebastian, British Sea Power, Rilo Kiley, Feist, Joy Division, The Smiths, The Pixies, Pavement, Elliot Smith, Camera Obscura, Sea Wolf, Badly Drawn Boy, Nick Drake, Franz Ferdinand... and many others. I could talk for hours about the whole development of music genres...
Typically when I compose music, I always seem to fall into playing more archaic classical tunes... Jaunty Baroque songs, and older styles of folk and celtic melodies. Out of date, mayhaps, but great fun!

I spend a lot of time thinking about
I like to wonder about obscure historical events, such as the Roman
General Crassius's "missing legion" that may have ended up in
China, and The Duke of Wellington's midnight hunt for Spring Heel
Jack in his old age... I'm sure you get the picture. It also amuses
me to think about philisophical topics, such as Plato's discussion
on "The Cave" and random, obscure, silly things that no normal
person would care to ponder.
On a typical Friday night I am
I usually enjoy heading out and getting dinner with friends, going
to a venue for a concert... several things! I hate staying at home
on my days off.
