My self-summary
Last night, I was kidnapped by space aliens from far beyond Pluto who taught me how to write an OKCupid profile. What you are about to read uses interplanetary pensmanship techniques from a billion years ahead of our time. Don’t be alarmed, you have my word you’ll still be the same on the other side.

My name is Andy, and I live near Shaker Square in the Church of the Crystal Swordfish. I recently moved back here to finish college after being deposed from my position as Emperor of Seattle by a military coup. Please don't talk to me about that though because I'm still really bitter about it (absolute violation of international law harrumph humph). I know a lot of fun stuff to do around here, most of which is based on ideas other people suggested, so I'm always looking for new inspirations and friends. I've got an endless supply of fascinating facts and spectacular stories, including tales of meeting Barack Obama and the world chess champion. Mostly, though, I want to meet you, a new friend, someone to have fun adventures with!
What I’m doing with my life
Did you know that if you stare at the sun with your eyes closed, and then open them again, everything looks like you're underwater?

I do artificial intelligence stuff for Amazon in the summer, and the rest of the year I am a student at Case Western. I relax by contra dancing, playing the piano, and writing. I am also a tea master and chess expert.

I'm really into international relations and history (I'm on the Model UN team) and I'm always really happy when I meet someone who will get my jokes about world figures/conflicts.

Bill Nye the Science Guy and I are a 94% match on here.

I’m really good at
Quoting "Peanuts"
Making tea
Climbing trees higher than you
Telling stories
Top ten lists.. real ones, not like the senseless ones on Buzzfeed (fuck Buzzfeed).
Getting on trains just as the doors are closing
Making people laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
Last night I was contra dancing and several people started conversations with me by saying that my facial expressions made them smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This used to be so tediously long. I've saved the full list that used to be here, because I'm so narcissistic that I actually believe there are people out there who want a full list of everything I like and will be sorely disappointed if I don't have it when they ask.

My favorite book is A Prayer for Owen Meany. I also love Paradise Lost.
My favorite movie of all time is The Graduate, and the one I have seen the most is 12 Angry Men; more recently I really loved Black Swan.
My favorite band is The Smiths. I also love anything Pat Metheny does, and a lot of classic hip-hop and funk, and soul (Isaac Hayes). I have a long list of favorite classical composers; I love the impressionist musicians like Debussy and Ravel and Satie and Griffes. Also, original punk rock, like pre-1980s… i.e. The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols.
There's a TV show called QI that's just Stephen Fry asking a bunch of fantastic British comedians impossible questions and making fun of them for not knowing the answers, while they get points for how funny/interesting their comments are. It's awesome.
There's this pear salad that the French restaurant across the street makes and that's damn good, that might be my favorite food. I also love seaweed.

I have an enormous tea collection and my favorite tea is some Silver Needle I got in Seattle. I always tell people it tastes like the sun, and they say "that doesn't make any sense" but then they taste it and suddenly it does make sense.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If a man was born blind and kept in an empty room his whole life with just a sphere and a cube for him to touch, and then one day he was able to see suddenly, would he be able to tell which was which just by looking at them?
On a typical Friday night I am
Last Friday night I got dinner at a lovely French restaurant and watched some live Brazilian music, and then found some chess hustlers outside the popcorn shop in Shaker Square and showed them who their daddy was.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
OKCupid made me a moderator, but I just let everybody go free. It feels thrilling, like I'm some sort of anarchist revolutionary for letting people get away with putting up pictures of their dogs. Fuck the police!

Speaking of which, I'm really tired of hearing people talk about their cats…. and I'm a cat person.
