My self-summary Propose an edit
Hi. I’m Mike. (Surprised?)
I’m looking to make some new friends around the Orange County area (or
southern California in general). Despite the massive influx of
people into Orange County, there seems to be an inverse
relationship between the amount of willing citizens entering the
area and the number of them I can actually tolerate…so I’m looking
for people who are interested in some of the same things I am, or
who share similar beliefs and are adventurous and outgoing enough
to actually do something.
Some of my favorite activities include: photography, writing, reading, listening to music and/or making music, DJing (dance music, not hip
hop or rap), riding my child’s bicycle in a foolhardy manner
(BMX), going for runs
outside and not on a treadmill, making babies cry, driving recklessly in old
cars, getting tattoos, and etc.
Overall, just looking to hang out with people who are intelligent
with a good sense of humor. If you can call me out on my own
bullshit, extra bonus points for you (and maybe a shiny gold star
or plate of cookies!).
"NO RETREAT. NO REGRETS."
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Working?
I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2006 with
degrees in English and Film Studies. For a short while I attempted
the computer engineering program, but upon realizing that I hate
math and numbers in general, I switched to majoring in subjects I
was actually good at and became infinitely happier for it.
Seriously, use a calculator. CALCULUS IS NO ONE’S FRIEND, FOR THE
LOVE OF FUCK’S SAKE.
I’m a copy editor at a publishing company in Costa Mesa currently
(I fixez your grammars and speling), which is my primary job.
However, I am also a photographer and a photo researcher for a
stock photography company. Getting paid to take photos is awesome.
Getting paid to read is not bad, either. But overall, I feel like
I’m using my college education for something worthwhile, which
makes me happy.
Some of my time is also devoted to defeating the douche bags at the
right hand side of the political spectrum. I donate to Planned
Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in the small hope that I
am helping to make America a slightly better place. I am immensely
pleased by the victory of Obama. If you live in California and
voted Yes on either Prop 4 or Prop 8, I do not want to talk to you,
and hope you are soon hit by a bus.
When I was younger, I wanted to do a variety of things with my life
that I have recently realized are probably unfeasible or just
downright idiotic, such as driving a train (don’t ask), becoming a
stuntman (?), or being an author (could still happen, although the
starving artist thing is somewhat of a deterrent).
If I fail at everything in life, I am going to become a gigolo in a
far corner of the world. Like Omaha, Nebraska.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I am good at:
*Writing retarded shit such as this
*Photographing adorable animals and sweaty, not-so-adorable punk
bands (I've done photos for bands like Strung Out, No Use For A
Name, The Phenomenauts, Street Dogs, Royal Crown Revue, Flee The
Seen, A Kiss Could Be Deadly, Electric Valentine, Authority
Zero...)
*Guitar (real) and
guitar (air)
*Sports (I like soccer, cross country/track, hockey, BMX, and basketball)
*Video games,
although this talent seems to be relatively worthless
*Being a smart-ass
*Failing at cooking anything but Top Ramen and pasta
*Drinking games. Thanks, UCSB
I am horrible at:
*Math (or “arithmetic” if you live in the 1920’s)
*Taking things seriously
*Keeping my mouth shut
*Making this profile short

(D) This list is short. Food is fun to eat, and I would like to
learn how to cook something other than Top Ramen and pasta, but I
am lazy and far too talented at making Top Ramen and pasta to give
up on them now. I think popsicles are awesome. If you don’t
like popsicles, I’m not sure we can be friends. Alcohol has calories so I’m
counting it in this category, too, because making a Jack and Coke
is easier than making Top Ramen. This is pleasing. For the record,
gin is disgusting and tastes like biting into a pine tree, and if
you like gin, taking shots of gin, making gin and tonics, doing gin
keg-stands (?), bathing in gin (??), washing your car with gin
(???), or forcing this ungodly drink of choice upon me or anyone
else, I hate you.
