My self-summary
I have a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor, and I enjoy sharing my (sometimes funny, sometime cringe worthy) observations with the people around me. I enjoy seeing new things and areas in addition to just going to a local hang out for drinks or dinner. Good food is always better with good company, and that is why I’m on OKCupid. My ideal woman would be someone I can have an intelligent conversation with and can banter with me and my irreverent sense of humor, as well has share in my interests.
My hobbies are kind of nerdy. I like to collect Transformers, enjoy watching Sci-Fi and Anime, and I play some computer games (OK, they are VERY nerdy).
I also love to go to movies of all kinds (maybe not romantic comedies, sorry) and see little kitschy areas like some of the local downtown areas. I’m a foodie, and I do enjoy a good drink at the right place. I am a beer snob that can still enjoy the classics, and I am a budding wine fan. I have no idea what to call a wine fan; I toyed with saying wino, but that has some… negative connotations.
I enjoy seeing live sports (baseball, hockey, football, rugby, what have you). Not a big basketball fan, nor do I enjoy soccer (I have to watch WAY too much of that when I'm on travel). I will watch damn near anything Texas A&M is playing, but my true passion is Aggie football and I follow them like most follow their NFL team.
What I’m doing with my life
I am an applications engineer for a local company. As such, I am on travel about 1 week per month. My job allows me to see Western Europe and some of the less frequented parts of North America.
I’m really good at
Giving travel advice to my coworkers.
Figuring out new and inventive ways to test stuff.
Ordering the wrong food the first time in a restaurant.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love watching Sci-Fi (Serenity, Farscape, Star Wars), Anime (Cowboy Bebop, Elfen Lied, Genshiken), the new comic based movies (Watchmen, Avengers, Nolen's Batman movies and the new DC cartoons like Batman:Year One), and the odd stuff in between (Hamlet 2, Princess Bride, Army of Darkness, Robot Chicken, Simon Pegg/Nick Frost Movies, Kevin Smith Movies, Conan, mindless action movies like Die Hard, and Zombieland).
I play some computer games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, SW:TOR (damn near anything Bioware makes, really), and strategy titles like GalCiv and XCom.
I love to listen to anything live (rock, jazz, blues, open mic night), but I buy hard and progressive rock (Tool, Karnivool, Fair to Midland, Rush going to Sabbath, Killswitch Engage, and the old 90's grunge). I find myself really digging the Aussie prog scene right now (yay, random!). I can also dig some old Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson (cause Mr Cash has released so much new stuff).
My reading tastes are very specific. I enjoy pretty much anything Peter F. Hamilton, John Scalzi, Peter Clines, and Chris Wooding come out with with a smattering of David Brin, Charlie Stross, and Timothy Zahn. There are the occasional departures for that (Game of Thrones; thanks HBO, you bastards). I really only read when I’m on a plane, which is about 1 to 2 round trips a month.
The six things I could never do without
1) My Boys - The obligatory reference to the children.
2) Smart Phone
3) Google (kinda goes with the smart phone, but whatever)
4) a good selection of beer or wine
5) good food
6) interesting events
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why doesn't OKCupid have a space for carnivores in the diet area?
I understand the viewpoint of a lot of vegans and vegetarians. My thought is that an animal can figure out a way to get away. They have brains and maybe need to evolve anyway. It not like we humans are THAT much smarter than them now days. The carrot your eating? You never gave it a chance. It was minding its own business when you became its apocalypse bringer. ;-)
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with my boys or finding somewhere to go to get out of the house. Thus eating partners are appreciated.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 25–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You like funny, sharply sarcastic nerds who can do tech support for you (but don't want to).

Or if you want someone to just hang out over a beer, wine, bubble tea, or food of all kinds with and enjoy some low-key, non-pushy company.

Your enemy rating is over 95%. I need a good enemy.

You like movies, but don't want to watch them in the theater alone.

Please be aware, I like meeting people in person. I have been learning to get to know others with the various e-communication methods, but eating with my phone still really sucks. Siri just doesn't cut it for a eating partner. I love to hang out when I can, and while chatting is still great, nothing beats face to face. I know, I'm old school about this.
