My Notes edit

My self-summary

Hi, I'm Lorna.
Here's some random drivel about me.
I'm currently studying Environmental Science, with a view to become a lollygagging hippie.
I absolutely love porridge, if I don't have it for breakfast the day is just not as good as it could have been.
I'm developing an unhealthy complex about getting old before my time, I think it's mostly to do with the malted drinks before bed, and the ability to fashion a knee blanket out of an old jumper.
I like to learn new things, I think it's healthy to have a range of hobbies, and so I try to indulge as many of mine as possible during the week.
I'm not really into religion, I like to think people can govern themselves without feeling the need to invent an entity that watches and judges our every act, I can do that to myself well enough thanks.
I like to walk, very far, for hours. I hope you have some decent walking boots.
I think I'm the only girl I know who actually likes her body, sure there are some bits of me that don't quite live up to society's 'ideal' but they are what make me *Me*. For instance one of my teeth is slightly wonky, but it runs in my family so when the dentist rather rudely asked me if I wanted it fixed I told him to shove it.
I get really bad vertigo, I mean like even from standing on a chair, it doesn't stop me climbing anything however so I often get up ladders/ trees/ mountains and then start to feel shaky. It helps to have someone with me to say 'Lorna, stop leaning into the void!'.
I don't really eat junk-food, I don't know why. Except cake, but that's homemade and doesn't count damn you!

I don't really know what else to write, so just ask me about stuff and I'll get back to you about it!

P.S Anyone who feels that at some point in the conversation they will ask me A. What I am wearing or B. What size breasts I have :- Go away now.
This also applies if you use the fact that I have tattoos to invade my personal space. As with art in a gallery, there is a barrier you do not cross.

What I'm doing with my life

Resisting the urge to leave the country again, I went traveling for roughly 9 months in 2006 and it was regretable that I had to return home and carry on with 'life'.
Trying to decide what it is I actually want to do with my future, I'd like to find a nice outdoorsy job, hopefully something like a park ranger. Even gardening would be nice.
Eating cake.
Trying not to eat too much cake.
Reading as many books as possible, I normally have around 5 books on the go.

I'm really good at

I'd like to think that I'm good at art, although I am slightly out of practice. I'm adept at making Origami Cranes, the bird, not the machine. Reading for hours on end. Kicking arse on Tekken games, whether I be branded as a button basher or not. Eating cake. Making cake, and other yummy goodness. Dancing in what my sister describes as 'an intimidating manner' (I have elbowed innocent bystanders in the face). Handling my alcohol and being a responsible friend. Stubbornly refusing to cut corners in Final Fantasy games - if you're gonna spend that much time on a game, you should do it properly.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

It used to be the amount of metal sticking out from my face, but now, who knows, maybe my tattoos? The thing about that is that although it's nice to have something quite easy to strike up a conversation about, usually the only people who do seem to be middle-aged crackheads sporting absolutely terrible 'ink' with a thing for much younger women. If it's someone I actually know it'll probably be how long my hair has grown. Occasionally it may be my unruly pool playing skills - wear a codpiece my friend!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Top 10 reads: The Never Ending Story by Michael Ende, Stardust, and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, The Onion Girl, and Someplace to be Flying by Charles de Lint, Wyrd Sisters, and Good Omens by Terry Pratchett, Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik, The Dice Man by 'Luke Rhinehart', Fables by Bill Willingham.

Top 10 watches: Tekkonkinkreet, Little Miss Sunshine, Stranger Than Fiction, Fight Club, Cloverfield, Leon the Professional, Wasabi, Batman Begins, Amelie, A Very Long Engagement.

I like far too much music to list here.

Top 10 eats: Chicken pie, fish jalfresi, lasagne, porridge, gammon with roast potatoes, ham and cheese toasties, teriyaki, sweet chili prawns, bacon and mashed potato with beans, my sister's home-made lemon sponge cake.

Top 10 things that I don't like:

Smoking (This stick contains formaldehyde, carcinogens, and a drug more addictive than heroin... I know! I'll inhale it's fumes!!).

Drugs (usually for people who can't find anything better to do, and don't have the imagination or personality to be able to have fun without them).

Preachy people (I respect your rights to believe whatever you like, even if in my opinion it sounds like insane shite, just don't try to force it upon me. Saying that you are going to pray for me is not touching, it's infuriating).

Overly long film trailers (thanks for showing me half the fucking film, now I won't bother spending £6.50 to watch it!).

Songs where the 'artist' feels the need to say their name over and over again as though you don't know who is 'singing' the 'song'.

Songs which start like this 'uh, uh, uhuh yeh' or even worse with the words 'convict music'... right, so basically you're saying this is music either for criminals or by criminals, maybe both.

People who take the bin out only to not replace the bin bag, and then can expend the energy to root around for a normal tescos bag suitable to put their tea bags in but can't just take out a bin bag and put it in the bin because it's 'too much effort', I mean FFS!

People who drink cans/ bottles of beer/coke/whatever in your home and then not only leave them quarter full before opening another, but then use the old one as an ashtray. I have unwittingly left half of my coke in a can on the side, only for some div to use it as an ashtray, and then I've picked it up and swallowed half a gulp of ash-coke mix, it is disgusting. Also I have to wash those out before I put them in the recycling, you inconsiderate fucks.
*Revised* I no longer have to put up with this as I am now living with my sister who is very clean.

The Daily Mail, this shouldn't need to be explained.

People who incessantly whine about their self-created dramas but never accept any advice that could actually help them. Especially those who have never experienced a real hardship in their lives.

Rant over!

The six things I could never do without

Independence. Fresh air. Socialising. A pet. Books. Knowledge.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Things that would have been very witty during the conversation 5 minutes ago.
When this years S.A.D is going to kick in.
I don't really know what else I think about, I tend to go off into day-dreams a lot, so maybe about what I've done that day; subjects covered in lessons; what I need to do when I get to college/ work/ my home; about a book I'm reading/ article I've read/ drawing I'm half way through/ whatever other crafty thing that's sitting in the corner waiting to be completed. I'll update this when I've thought more about my thoughts...

On a typical Friday night I am

It depends who is available. Watching a film either at a friend's place or the cinema. Playing pool til 2 in the morning. Getting drunk and dancing around, but that's more a Saturday thing as clubs here are dead on Fridays. Playing the PS2 (Final Fantasy) or Wii (Bowling or Mariokart) or Xbox 360 (Fable 2). Reading, again. Maybe none of the above, who can tell?
These days it's likely to be washing my hair as I have work the next day and don't want to be unkempt!

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

Over the last few years I've become more and more sensitive to scary/ sad/ gore filled films. This annoys me because I used to be able to detach from the film completely and just watch it and now I'm liable to have to watch it through my fingers or break down crying. On a positive note this gives you a good excuse to cuddle up to me if we were to watch a film together.
Also I have a picture of a baby rabbit that I look at if I'm feeling down. It works too!

You want to.
