I am dedicated, funny, and strong-willed.

My Self-Summary

I am a Memphis transplant who's both a world traveler and a cubicle dweller. I'm still trying to find a desirable balance between the two.

I am a huge geek and like to think that I'm rather quirky. I have been known to start ranting on topics ranging from local politics to Batman. Honestly - I spend enough time at work dealing with the "real world" and people much older than me, so in my free time, I love to be entertained by fantasy, sci-fi, cartoons, etc.

Religion is not a huge part of my life. I'm not anti-religion, but I rarely, if ever, think about it or consider what it does for me. I don't enjoy being preached to or chastised.

I have a lab mix puppy who brings me equal amounts of joy and exasperation. I adore dogs and although my details say that I "dislike" cats, that's really too strong of a word - I just prefer dogs to cats.

I very much enjoy looking good and going out to experience life. I'd probably try anything once (within reason). I have a great, small group of friends and we have a lot of fun together.

I enjoy having conversations with substance. I can't stand shallow people. I understand that some topics can be too heavy or depressing for casual conversation, but it's awesome when people that you're chatting with get fired up or really interested in something obscure.

I am told all the time that I act older than I really am - but that's not a bad thing. I'm pretty independent and I've had many opportunities in my life that many 25-year-olds don't. I certainly have my life together as much as the typical 25-year-old (yikes!), but hey, I've got nothing but the future ahead right now.

What I’m doing with my life

I work at a company that's headquartered in Memphis. It certainly keeps me busy enough. I do some translation work and a hell of a lot of typing. Outside of work, I try to keep in shape and improve my overall health. I also try pretty hard to meet new people, but surely I'm not the only one who's noticed that it's rather difficult in this town.

I'm not sure where I will end up, but I'm gaining a lot of experience at my current job that I will hopefully be able to use in some capacity later. I don't see myself in Memphis forever, certainly. I'm not at all opposed to moving out of the country if the opportunity presented itself.

I’m really good at

I like to think that I'm good at writing, and fairly decent at cooking. I wouldn't say that I have any unique skills, but I hate to be mediocre at anything that I try. I speak French. I love to help people.

The first things people usually notice about me

my height, my eyes or my eyelashes (strange, maybe, but they're very long).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: She's Come Undone, by Wally Lamb. The Other Boleyn Girl, by Philippa Gregory. In general, I love history, whether real or fictional novelizations.

Movies: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, A Fish Called Wanda, Taxi Driver, Stranger Than Fiction, Frida, The Prestige.

Music: Just about anything.

Food: Bacon!, cheese, good steak, chocolate, salads (believe it or not), shellfish, Mexican, French, Thai, Indian...

and, while TV shows was not asked for above, this seems like the right place to put them: The Simpsons (seasons 1-10ish, sorry...), The Tudors, Nip/Tuck, and 30 Rock.

The six things I could never do without

a weekly dose of Starbucks (yeah, yeah...), the Internet, good friends, a well-mixed martini, laughter and time to myself.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what I eventually want to do with my life.

On a typical Friday night I am

sitting at home, relaxing now that the week is finally over. If the mood strikes, I'll call up some friends to see who wants to head to the bars.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I listen to country music in the car. Please don't hate me.

You should message me if

you actually read through this, have a good sense of humor, and don't mind unabashed nerdiness...

Please do not message me if you are over 40, married, some kind of religious nut, or saddled with kids. No judgments, you're just not what I'm looking for.
