My self-summary
Welcome to the world of modern dating. I think it's safe to tell people the truth about how we met. Someone at work told me the other day that my life seems like a romantic comedy, which is funny because I don't particularly like romantic comedy movies. The female characters are never too bright. I like mobster movies--but it's probably best not to live one.

I'm definitely an active person who thinks of exercise more as a regular part of my day. I'm currently training for a half marathon. Advice is welcome since I feel like I'm figuring it all out as I go--you know, like the rest of my life. I enjoy professional sports, too, mostly baseball and football (Mets and Giants) and enjoy going to games or watching with friends at a sports bar.

I've got a big heart, a sarcastic sense of humor and a pretty open mind.

My idea of a good time involves anything from white water rafting to going to a concert to crashing a party (if you bring some booze and smile a lot, you'd be surprised how welcoming most people are) and lots more in between. 10% of life is what happens, 90% is how you react to it. I'm going with glass half-full.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm trying to figure out new ways to make the most of it. Lately this involves exploring volunteer opportunities and signing up for triathlons. And basically saying, "yes" to some things that are a little outside my comfort zone.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at: 1. picking out gifts for people 2. telling an entertaining story 3. cooking 4. finding the humor in situations 5. yelling at televised sporting events--much to my neighbor's dismay. 6.Giving hugs. None of those "ass out", pat on the back hugs--I do it right.
The first things people usually notice about me
I guess that I can strike up a conversation with pretty much anyone.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books-The Alchemist, The Stand, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The Hours

Just finished reading "Rise to Greatness" about 1862 and the Lincoln presidency. I think I have all the players clear in my mind to follow the movie.

Movies-The Godfather, Casino, Gone with the Wind, The Departed, Eternal Sunshine, Shawshank, It's a Wonderful Life. I still want to "live" the Goonies.

Last really good movie I saw was "Argo".

TV-Trying to lay off TV a little bit but some favorites include: Top Chef, The Good Wife, Amazing Race, CBS Sunday morning (you may laugh, but it's a very nice way to wake up on a Sunday)

Music-Adele, Coldplay, Cee Lo Green, Jay-Z, Mumford and Sons, the occasional guilty pleasure of a late 70s/early 80s power ballad. Thank goodness for internet radio since there is no alt rock station in New York.
The six things I could never do without
exercise
Loved ones-friends and family
the beach
baseball
exercise
a kitchen to cook in
a cup of coffee in the morning (I mean, I could, it's just best if I don't)

I don't know why most women list Chapstick either...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'd like to travel to....(insert any number of places here)
Food-meals to cook, restaurants to try
How much fun stuff can I do this weekend while still getting to most of my errands?
Volunteering-what would be both fulfilling for me and helpful for other people
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing something low key. I have some volunteer activities I participate in on Saturday mornings. Drinks or early dinner, maybe a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I snort a little when I laugh. It's rare but it means I heard something truly hilarious.

You should message me if
You know how to tell a good story. You share some of my interests. You are game for an adventure. You can explain why "The Wire" is really that amazing. (You all seem to love it.) It would be helpful for you to be awesome, even a little.
