My Notes edit

My self-summary

I've been told, more than once, that I need to write my autobiography because, damn, what a ride. And it's true - my life has been hilarious and unusual so far, but I hope to experience a lot more before putting it to paper. I'm looking for someone to help me make that future book even more exciting and, well, why not ... a romantic bestseller!

Here are the basics: I am a Bay Area transplant to Sacramento looking for a way to re-transplant my way back to the Bay. Until that happens, I'm looking to meet new people and have fun - either in Sacramento or in the Bay Area. But if you're in Sac, for god's sake have a sense of humor about it. If you have absolutely no idea what I am getting at, bless your heart, but I'm not your girl.

I grew up in Kansas and am not amused by "Wizard of Oz" jokes. I'm cool with my Midwestern roots, but that's just where I am from and I now enjoy the many wonders of living in Northern California: Like-minded, Obama-loving liberal folks, great food and wine, beautiful scenery, indie films and music and great public radio. I also love to travel, especially to mega cities like Chicago and New York, but a little nature immersion in serene spots like Yosemite lets me appreciate the gamut. I love going out to try a new restaurant or see a good movie as much as I like staying home curled up with a good book or watching a new episode of Lost. I have silly curly hair, vivid green eyes and a shameless laugh.

I'm looking for brains before brawn, funny before handsome, a music fan before a sports fan. OK, so I'm looking for a geek, but not one who holds his glasses together with masking tape. Actually, I like my geek with a hint of nerd. Vocabulary is sexy, so be talkative and outgoing -- a quirky flirt with libido! Have good taste in music (no, it's not that subjective, actually. New Age sucks, unless you are getting a massage). Care about food and books, and be more than willing to travel. Teach me something new, and allow yourself to be taught. Grizzly bear-type guys with goatees and/or glasses are a plus, but whatever. It would be nice if you brought me daisies every now and again.

What I'm doing with my life

I'm working as a newspaper editor but trying to figure out what I really want to do when I grow up. Right now I'm in the throws of the grad school application process. Super fun.

Also, it's recently come to my attention that I'm going to be living in Sacramento a little longer than I intended, so I'm trying to meet new people, date more and generally enjoy my life here.

I'm really good at

Spelling, figuring out logistics, fighting the man, planning weekend getaways, reading maps, listening to other people

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

I have very talented toes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The Poisonwood Bible, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Shopgirl, Geek Love, Bee Season, all things Harry Potter, Microserfs, The Secret History, Carter Beats the Devil, Life of Pi, anything by David Sedaris

Movies: Little Miss Sunshine, Amelie, Little Children, Magnolia, anything Almodovar

Music: Arcade Fire, Wilco, LCD Soundsystem, Johnny Cash, Magnetic Fields, Stevie Wonder, Beck, Bjork, Radiohead, New Pornographers, Boards of Canada, Feist, Spoon, Mirah, Elliott Smith, Sigur Ros, Vampure Weekend

Food: I hate ketchup and popcorn. I love almost everything else, within reason. I probably have an unhealthy obsession with quasadillas. I am an unabashed foodie and love trying new things, but I also love a good burger and fries.

The six things I could never do without

1. Guacamole, salsa and sour cream
2. My Bluetooth earpiece
3. Easy access to the Bay Area
4. My brand new iPhone
5. Friends and family
6. Elevators

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I also happen to use a wheelchair and do most everything with my feet, but this has not stopped me from having a full life socially, professionally and sexually.

You should message me if

you like sushi and good conversation. I would be up for a little of both.
