My Notes edit

My self-summary

Just a Canadian girl, living in the middle of Toronto, looking for people who can hold up an engaging and entertaining conversation. I am pretty open and open-minded and enjoy meeting people from all over, from all different perspectives, experiences and outlooks.

I know this hasn't said a LOT about me. I draw a bit of a blank with these open-ended self summaries... but if you want to know anything about me--anything at all (well, almost anything)--just ask. I don't bite.

What I'm doing with my life

For work, I am in retail, as a manager. It's not quite what I anticipated I'd do after university, but life can be funny like that... and most days I actually enjoy it.

But with the rest of my life, I like to stay active, be inquisitive, travel, meet new people and generally learn as much as I can about the world around me.

I'm really good at

Listening, and generally paying attention to the people and things around me. I think I am generally good with people -- definitely a people person. But do I have any really outstanding "special skills"? If I do, I either haven't found them or am too modest about them, as I feel like there are a lot of things I wish I were really good at.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My eyes... (although I know sometimes it's other "features" which I have become more accepting of over time).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

In no particular order (and these could change at any time):

Books: Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, T.S. Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral, Milne's original Winnie-the-Pooh books (and if that puzzles you, you need to give them a try; what Disney has done to the poor bear is a travesty).

Movies: Casablanca is the greatest movie of all time, hands down. While many hold it up as the ultimate love story, I have always been taken with its flawless and snappy dialogue. Every line is perfect. Runners-up: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Amelie.

Music: My tastes are literally all over the place. If I look in the recently played list on my iTunes, this past week has included selections from Holly Cole, Delerium, the Afro Celt Sound System, Blue Rodeo (Five Days in July is an excellent album), Amy Winehouse, Camille Saint-Saens, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Garmarna (from Sweden) and Peter Gabriel.

Food: I love Italian. It must be a reflection of that tiny portion of my heritage which comes from Italy.

The six things I could never do without

Good friends and family, a nice glass of wine from time to time, music, laughter, a semi-decent wardrobe and the brain in my head.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Wondering if I am doing all I can do to be the best I can be and leave the world better than when I got here.

(But, if I am totally honest, I also spend a lot more time than I should on figuring out what to wear in the mornings or when I am heading out.)

On a typical Friday night I am

If not working late, enjoying the company of friends.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

Right here and now? Maybe nothing THAT private... but if you get to know me and earn my trust, you might be surprised. (Although if you look in the forums, I admit something I did recently that not many people know about me.)

You should message me if

I've intrigued you at all and you want to chat about, well, the sky is the limit.

Two caveats: 1. Please have something to say. Nothing bothers me more than people who send messages but really can't hold up a conversation. 2. Save your Woos. I really don't know how to respond to a "woo" (and I won't).
