My self-summary
***YAY for me, I met someone on this site and we're now married....wish us luck!****
Hi, I'm Jules... These are a few of my favorite things: music, movies, contra-dancing, Folk Dancing, hiking and camping.

So I don't consider myself a nature nut, but I do enjoy being out of doors and out in the sticks. I really enjoy hiking. I hike the tully trail mostly because it's convenient and offers a lot of diversity (river, lake, waterfall, hills, meadows, etc) And I like it because there are a lot of entry points and I usually only like to hike 4-6 miles at a stretch a few times a week, mostly because I'm in terrible shape and more than that might possibly give me an aneurysm right on the trail and the idea of having my corpse torn apart by coyotes does not appeal to me.

I like to go camping a few times a year because it's cheap and it's fun.. oh and because you get to play in the fire. Now I'm not talking about the back country where you have to bury your own poo or anything. I like a place with a nice convenient walk to some flush toilets and warm showers. State parks are usually pretty good. So yes I like to be active, but I'm FAT.. so if you don't like fat, bbw, or what ever you want to call it, then stop reading now!

My favorite way to spend a vacation is with a road trip. Throw my tent and gear in the trunk and go. (Damn the price of gasoline) I especially enjoy visiting historical sites and museums....and I'm the kind of person who will take a 30 mile detour to see a bunch of cars set on end representing a modern stone hendge, or to see the world's largest ball of yarn.

I appreciate intelligence, but I prefer one to wear his intelligence lightly. I don't think that conversation should be the equivalent of an IQ pissing contest.

I am Quirky, vivacious, and piquant
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a saponifier and have a small business selling my wares. (If you're really that interested, you'll google the word "saponifier".) I'm enjoying spending time with my family, and am just getting back into dating and socializing after an 8 year hiatus while I was raising my two sisters. (unless you count sitting in a smelly highschool gym every Wednesday and Saturday with the other crazy "wrestling moms" as socializing).. but anyway the kids all grown now and I'm an empty nester!
I’m really good at
crochet, crafts, knowing when people are lying, appreciating, but not creating beautiful art and music. Being compassionate and understanding.
The first things people usually notice about me
I smile like I know something that you don't, and I can never stand still. My inner monologue also serves as my outer monologue and it gets me into trouble.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
ok, first of all I believe that a person is so much more than just the sum of his interests and hobbies. I'm listing some of my favories because it's fun to do but I don't necessarily believe that two people have to share all of the same interests in order to be compatible... but some shared interests would be nice.. feel free to skip the rest of this section, it's a total yawn, yet I still I feel oddly compelled to share.

Books:I'm not a huge reader, but I go in spurts where I read a lot, then have months on end when I don't even pick up a People Magazine. I like chaim potok, john irving, david sedaris, the harry potters, some stephen king, and various books from Oprah's club. And I like most of the "classics", you know the basic stuff they made us read in highschool. Actually if I'm in the mood to read something, I'll usually pick up a "classic" rather than something on the best seller's list. Oh, I'm also a huge Robert Frostadmierer, and sometimes, just blurt out lines of his poetry when the mood strikes.
Music: Bluegrass, celtic and any traditional music from most western countries. I like anything played on a banjo, dulcimer, bazouki, or fiddle. I still love all the modern alternative stuff from my younger years like Oingo Boingo, The Smiths, squeezeThe Replacements, Smithereens, and the like. Chris Isaak is a GOD, so is Paul Simon. I liked Elliot Smith too. OF course, I like 60s classic rock stuff too, especially the Beatles. If I'm sad, The BeeGees or Monkees always cheer me up. I'm not a classical "fan" but I do enjoy a good outdoor classical concert... Espeically Dvorak, but I also enjoy Prokofiev or Tsaikovski(yeah, I know I spelled it wrong, but really what is the correct spelling, he's Russian and this isn't a cyrillic keyboard)among others Love Glen Miller and Benny Goodman. Oh and Johnny Clegg with Savuka, and Boiled in Lead, Ryan Shupe,Johnny Cash, Alison Kraus and the Elvi (both presley and costello)
Movies:I love movies. Especially going to the DRIVE IN movies in summer.. ahhh the memories.. anyway, Some of my favorites: Shawshank Redemption, All of the Harry potters, all of the starwars, Breaking Away, American History X, Fight Club, Juno, Clerks, Trainspotting, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, It's a Wonderful Life, A Room with a View, Almost Famous,Glory,North and South(cheezy 80s miniseries)Donnie Darko, Nightmare Before Christmas, Paradise Lost: The murders at robin hills woods, Gladiator, Rudy, Sons of Provo Miracle, Beautiful Mind,Strictly Ballroom, Bride and predjudice(no that is not a typo),Anything with Edward Norton, Morgan Freeman, Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd, Jack Black, Adam Sandler,Jimmy Stewart, Tommy Lee Jones, Harrison Ford, Russell Crowe, John Cusack, Will Smith, Robert Downy Jr, Denzel Washington,Steve Buccemi or Judy Dench. Also Christopher Waulken freaks me out, but I love him too.

Food: Indian, middle eastern/mediterranian (you know, like falafel, hummous, couscous, shawarma and all that stuff served with that cool cucumbery goodness on top), Italian, Chinese and good old american, especially really good barbeque which I almost NEVER eat because: a) it's got like a bagillion calories and is loaded saturated fat and b) Authentic barbeque is really hard to come by in new england. Right now I'm actually on a weird flaxseed and olive oil kick.
The six things I could never do without
Ice

I spend a lot of time thinking about
The saponification values of various oils, the inherent goodness of man, why we have toenails, How to convince B.O. to withdraw from Afghanistan. Is this Kpangan butter fairly traded and how can I be sure that the workers received a fair price for their labor? Where can I find a source for organic sheep tallow? How many innocent people are in prison right now and what I can do to get justice for them. (shameless plug for www.innocenceproject.org)
On a typical Friday night I am

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a fan of the Granny Panties. I just dig the full coverage.
