I am patient, talented, and gentle.

My Self-Summary

I'm pretty friendly and easy to talk to. I like meeting new people and spend time sitting around and talking, especially with a cup of coffee and the occasional slice of cake. I tend not to take things too seriously and as life is mainly chaos I tend to laugh at most things.

I am scientist with a creative side and I love to debate anything - bring on an issue and I'll immediately think of three arguments for either side of the fence (years and years of debating competitively means I find it hard not to discuss things to the nth degree).

What I’m doing with my life

Working hard, being thwarted by people who do not do the same. I work with numbers - they're great, I never thought that I would miss Maths but when I left it I did. I realise this makes me sound like a complete geek but I don't care.

I’m really good at

Explaining things clearly.

Taking an interest in stuff I don't know about.

Making cake.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't really know. Maybe the glasses? Lots of people talk to me though so maybe my non-judgemental persona comes across easily.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Here is a list of my favourite books - it goes on a bit so feel free to skip it: Lolita; The Three Musketeers; Great Expectations; In Cold Blood; Crime and Punishment; Frankenstein; Rubicon; Isabella, She-Wolf of France, Queen of England; The Consolations of Philosophy; Pale Fire; To The Lighthouse; The Bell Jar; Anything by M.R. James; Some of Lovecraft's short stories; Random Poetry; How To Be A Domestic Goddess; The Great Mortality; The Picture of Dorian Gray; The Confessions of a Justified Sinner; The Diary of a Nobody; In the Devil's Garden: A Short History of Forbidden Food. I also like Pratchett. Lancaster and York: The Wars of the Roses; Heart of Darkness; David Copperfield.

As you can see, I like reading a lot. Oh, and let's not forget 'The Economist'.

For those of you that are Potter fans my screen name may suggest an unhealthy love. The name came out of an in-joke with my friends and not an obsession! That said, Potter is okay - not great literature but entertaining enough. I do get pretty tired of people judging others on their reading material. As long as people are happy loving JK then please just let them be.

Films and music - don't know really, just listen to and watch whatever is around. I like some genres more than others - I have a weakness for bad action films, such as Con Air, but realise that most people don't! V for Vendetta was pretty awesome, as was Brokeback Mountain, Battle Royale, Lord of the Rings, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Delicatessen and City of God.

Food - most of it. I have a very sweet tooth. I hate mashed potato. I don't drink but don't mind if you do. If I want to go out I prefer a late-night bar that will serve coffee.

The six things I could never do without

My friends. My family. My books. My computer. My phone. My knitting.

I also appreciate the use of the 'Oxford comma' and I taught myself Latin because I was bored one day and needed a new hobby.

Note: The above sentence refers to the fact that one day I thought, 'I need a new hobby' and so decided to learn Latin. It does not mean that I am so arrogant to claim to have learnt Latin in a day. Hope that clears it up!

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future, current affairs, religion and philosophy, whoever I've got a crush on.

Ways to avoid having my soul stolen by the corporate machine.

What's for dinner.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either having a nice meal, watching a film or going out with my friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I prize good spelling and punctuation.

You should message me if

You want someone to talk to.
