My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an intellectual adventurer. Or maybe an adventurer with an intellectual streak. I'm more interested in knowing than feeling, astronomy than astrology, and history than mythology.

I'm a little warped. Actually, I'm a lot warped, and I'm completely OK with that. OKCupid's personality profile says I'm "More Capitalistic" but I threw my Ayn Rand books in the garbage years ago so I don't know what that's all about.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Mapping out the ocean floor off Ventura with the assistance of scuba gear and some other cool gadgetry. I hunt for shipwrecks, downed aircraft, hidden reefs and other underwater points of interest. Yes, really. Ever wondered what's under the surface at such-and-such beach you like to frequent? Ask me, the odds are I can tell you.

I have a day job that I get paid for, which also involves maps.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Having intense conversations without getting heated or resorting to ad hominem attacks. Apparently it's a skill. No one on TV seems capable of it anymore.

Scuba diving, freediving, and naturally since I do it for a living, working with a wide variety of computer software.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes.

Books: Anything by Ambrose Bierce. Scifi/fantasy such as Use of Weapons, Till We Have Faces, and A Canticle for Liebowitz. A lot of really obscure stuff relating to maritime history. Certainly More Than You Want to Know About the Fishes of the Pacific Coast, by the inimitable Dr. Milton Love.

Schopenhauer's writings clarified a lot of my thinking and changed my life. Seriously.

Music: The Birthday Massacre, Assemblage 23, Depeche Mode, Tristania, Tycho... I tend to like electronic music, but I'm allergic to Dubstep.

Movies: I'm not a movie snob and will watch almost anything, but the ones that stick in my mind the most over the years are obscure, quirky flicks that might not appeal to everyone. Some favorites are Creation, Blade Runner, Heathers, Miracle Mile, Moon, and The Sunset Limited.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Depends. I could be PC gaming with friends, going out for dinner, hanging out at a karaoke bar with my significant other (I'm in an open relationship) or just being a hermit and staying home to work on a project.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I only have one kidney. I'm not sure how private that should be, but it's a weird, random factoid about me. And now you know.
