I am lovably quirky, endearingly nerdy, and unabashedly cute.
My Self-Summary
I'm a writer.
I like to be the comic relief.
I read a lot of books.
I want to have an MFA in Creative Writing and a Ph.D in English
Literature (I'm still working on which order I'm going to do it
in.)
I make jokes to ward off awkwardness.
I love books about women, written by women, dealing with women's
issues. I'm a huge feminist. And I will discuss feminism with you
if need be.
I wish I could have seven or eight majors in school. I'm
interested, and can carry a damn good conversation, in politics,
theology, art history, women's studies, literature, languages, and
medieval history.
No, seriously.
I have Catholic envy.
I'm sassy. Like big black girls sassy.
Sometimes I wish I lived in the South. The Old South.
Social Justice is big for me. I go to a Jesuit school, and social
justice is a big buzzword here, and I try and make it a part of my
life.
I'm independent because I have to be.
I'm a writer, and as such I always think of myself as an observant,
independent agent. I can be in the middle of a party, in the middle
of a conversation and still be completely inside my head.
I'm not sure if I'm a nerd or a geek. But whichever one I am, I
love it.
Now in French
J'aime beaucoup les hommes qui parlent le francais. (I'm not even
sure if the right translation is "parle" or "parlent" right there,
so that shows you how "okay" I am at French.)
J'étudie le francais pour deux années, et je l'aime beaucoup. Je
veux habiter en France pour un peu de temps.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently a
student at Fordham at Lincoln Center. I
am an English/Comparative Literature Major, because books really
rev my engine. However, I really enjoy
writing, as well. I want to be a writer
in the future, too. I work at my school as well as a Resident
Assistant in the Office of Residential Life. I love working in
Student Affairs, because we do more than just bust students for
smoking and drinking, we really try and do a lot of programming
around social justice, as well as different educational
programs.
I am also very active in activities in my school and in the
community. I am president of my school's Rainbow Alliance. I think
it's really important to give back to the gay community by
volunteering, whether it be with people who have HIV, or with
homeless gay youth.
I watch a movie to put me to bed every night, too. Which I thought
I should say, because it is something I do with my life.
I’m really good at
Talking, Listening,
Laughing,
Writing
I remember dates really well. (Not like romantic dates, but like
day and week dates. I remember when everything happens. But don't
worry, if we dated, I would remember that, too.)
I'm learning
French
right now, and I want to learn Creole, because Romance languages
and their bastardized versions ring my bell.
Kissing. I swear.
The first things people usually notice about me
My laugh is really distinctive, but weird because it always
changes. If you meet me, you'll get to know what I mean. But also,
a lot of people like my eyes.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I have way too many favorite books to list, but here are a
few:
The Awakening, The Short Stories of Flannery O'Connor (I have a
Flannery O'Connor Tattoo) Wuthering Heights, , Ethan Frome, I
really love classics, and I REALLY love women writers, and all my
friends have something to say about that.
My favorite movies are probably: Kill Bill, Cruel Intentions,
Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Mommie Dearest (So funny!), Romy and
Michelle's High School Reunion, and a lot of other ones that, once
again, when prompted by a white box, are hard to remember.
I have a huge passion for movies that are so bad that they wrap
around to the "good" category. For example, B horror movies that
are funny, or movies like "The Craft," or even "Mommie
Dearest."
This box didn't ask about television, but I'll tell you
anyway:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Desperate Housewives, Sarah Silverman
Program, South Park, Dollhouse, Golden Girls on DVD
I listen to every kind of music except hardcore rock and country.
No screamo, please, God. I'd have to say my favorites are female
singer/songwriters, like Alanis Morissette and anyone who followed
in her footsteps. But I also LOVE to dance, and will willingly spin
Britney, Lady Gaga or something like that. I loved when Gwen
Stefani was by herself, but I love No Doubt. Shakira.
I love all types of food, too. I'm a REALLY good cook. I can
eat/cook Italian. I love love love
Thai food. I'm learning to cook Spanish
food, as I'm Puerto Rican, but I've also cooked, and do enjoy
eating Indian Food. I also love French food.
The six things I could never do without
1. Books
2. My Friends
3. Writing Stories
4. Dancing (randomly in my kitchen or shower)
5. Those chairs in Barnes and Noble where you can read on your own
time.
6. A sense of humor
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Infomercials.
Stories. Whether the ones I read or the ones that I write.
Vh1 Trash television.
What I'm going to eat next.
Vh1 Trash television.
How much cooler Catholicism is than Protestantism.
What book I'm going to read next.
What's the next story I'm going to write.
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't know what a typical Friday night is, but I'll tell you
about my favorite Friday night in recent memory. One of my best
friends, John, and I stood in, watched movies, and went through
fashion magazines analyzing the fashion as from an art historical
and aesthetic perspective.
Movie nights are very popular with me. I also love board
games.
Or I'm on duty at my school (like once a month) because of my RA
duties.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I really like men.
You should message me if
You want to meet someone genuine, and someone who loves to
laugh.
You want someone who talks and listens like its his dayjob.
