My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.

Music is my life, my passion, my raison d'être. I love it in most all its forms, but I consider myself primarily a composer and academic. As such, I am studying it at university.

I take "I like all music" as a personal challenge. But, hey, if you don't hate any of the music I like, then you're my kind of person.

I do play numerous instruments, though: Viola, Bass Guitar, Violin, Piano, Guitar and I sing. I am most proficient on the first two, and as such those are the only instruments I have been playing in concerts in recent times. The the rest are more like compositional tools for me.

When not doing something to do with music, I'll be reading a book, playing a video game or chilling with my friends. Kinda trying to play through my backlog of Steam games... I could be there a while...

I really love getting to know people! It's so interesting. People are one of the greatest enigmas of this world and they are the source of endless intrigue for me.

I'm a total night owl. I'd probably become nocturnal if I could. I'm getting pretty close as it is.

I'm a Corbynite and a bit of a Trot. Joined the Labour party following Corbyn's election as leader.

Joined this place for the hell of it. Why not?

Note: my profile is really long now because I got bored one night. Just go down to whatever section you care most about or find most interesting.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I finished my BA degree this year with a First, and now going onto my MMus in composition. I released a demo EP this year on Bandcamp (ask if you want to hear) and I've recently been brought onto a game development team as the Lead Composer.

After my Master's, I'll primarily be working on that whilst looking for residences in institutions such as Cafe Oto in London. At some point in the future I'd like to pursue a PhD and become a Lecturer alongside my Composing, but I want to experience the real world after my Master's first.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Well, music I guess. Composition is my main focus and I spend a lot of time practising my craft as it is what I want to do with my life.

I'd like to think I'm pretty good at video games generally, but I don't tend to spend enough time on one to get REALLY good at any in particular. Though I have poured many, many hours into the Elder Scrolls, Pokemon, the Legend of Zelda, Gran Turismo and Soul Calibur.

I used to be a good swimmer but lack of practise has lead to a large loss of stamina in water and slight degradation of my technique. Would love to get back to doing it more often but I just don't have the time.

I tend to be pretty empathetic too, I suppose.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm pretty tall, and apparently act quite maturely, so people tend to think I'm older than I am, but I'm really just 21.

I've also gained a reputation at university for wearing black... oh dear. I do wear some differently coloured band t-shirts sometimes though! And I'll happily dress up for special occasions.

Okay, so I've cut this down a bit because it was TOO DAMN LONG. It's still TOO DAMN LONG, but it's at least an improvement. If you want to see the old, ridiculously long, slightly out of date one, then just ask :P

My music taste is incredibly large and diverse (my iTunes library, mostly consisting of music from CDs I own, is currently sitting at around 14400 tracks - which comes to 44.4 days, apparently) so talking about it all would be impossible. Nevertheless, the majority of my listening tends to be made up of progressive, avant-garde or experimental music, particularly of the rock, metal or jazz variety.

My all-time favourite band, and in my opinion, the greatest band of all time, is King Crimson (verified by Jimi Hendrix, and if Hendrix said it, it surely must be true?). Nevertheless, a close second for me is the Norwegian Blackjazz band, Shining, who bring a whole new life to both the metal and jazz genres.

Besides that, some of the albums I've been enjoying a lot recently from other artists have been:

The Book of Souls by Iron Maiden
The Song Project Live by John Zorn
Soused by Scott Walker + Sunn O)))
South of Heaven by Slayer
Quadrophenia by the Who
Elephant by the White Stripes
The Congregation by Leprous

And I've also got a few albums on order at the moment:

La Di Da Di by Battles
Relentless by Slayer
Flowers of Romance by Mouse on the Keys
Behind the Devil's Back by Fightstar

Note: If you make a blanket statement such as "I don't like metal", chances are I won't take you seriously. Make that double if you only listen to one or two narrow genres of music. Music is my life, so being able to talk about it in its many forms is extremely important to me. Also, I used to use but have moved away from it for the time being.

My favourite authors at the moment, and probably for the foreseeable future, are Milan Kundera and J. G. Ballard, though I have recently gotten hooked on Stephen King through a recently developed interest in horror and "scary" literature. I used to read a lot of fantasy, but haven't done it so much recently, and hopefully King will be a nice way for me to step back towards it. I'm also a good chunk into Koushun Takami's Battle Royale, and thoroughly enjoying it.

I'm a huge book lover and this is only scratching the surface, so if you're interested, then feel free to ask :)

I don't watch huge amounts of TV or film any more, but I will sit down to watch some from time to time. Used to watch anime obsessively, and still do from time to time (thanks Crunchyroll). My favourite series are Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Monogatari Series.

I do love sci-fi and a lot of British comedy (stand-up, panel shows, sketch shows and sitcoms) but I haven't followed any of that religiously for quite a while. My parents got me into a lot of crime-dramas, too, so I'll happily watch any of them (my recent favourite has been New Tricks).

What I do follow religiously is Formula One, which has become a bit of a passion of mine in recent years. I WILL dedicate whole weekends to watch Practice, Qualifying and the Race, because the technology and skill involved absolutely fascinates me. I don't watch much other sport, except occasionally tennis and athletics.

I rarely watch films nowadays, but if it's sci-fi, fantasy, Marvel or British comedy related, I'll happily watch it. I've also developed a little thing for the works of David Lynch, and in particular, Eraserhead.

If I'm watching anything, though, I'm likely watching Youtube. My favourite Youtubers are ProJared, GameGrumps, Ashens, LAGTV and Linus/NCIX TechTips.

Doesn't ask about video games but I'll say anyway; RPGs are my favourite genre, with the Elder Scrolls being one of my favourite franchises. I love numerous Nintendo games, particularly in the Legend of Zelda and Pokemon franchises. I really enjoy strategy games of all types, but I'm much better at Turn-Based and Grand Strategy games than RTSes.

I'm not a huge fan of shooters unless they contain a lot of story or RPG elements, (Bioshock, Farcry series, etc.) though L4D2 and Planetside 2 with friends are always great fun. I'm also quite partial to fighters and driving games (Soul Calibur and Gran Turismo respectively).

I am a huge fan of board games and tabletop RPGs, as well as card games (both based around the 52 card pack and TCGs). I play a fair bit of DnD or similar (e.g. Pathfinder) with friends, but not as much as I would like since being at university. Skype is a wonderful tool in that respect.

I love playing (proper) Mahjong. I have my own set and all. I will happily play any board game, but challenge me to a game of the Nasty Horse Racing Game and expect no mercy. I've recently become rather partial to Cards Against Humanity (again, I have my own set).

Chinese food and Curries tend to be my favourite types of food, and I'm a bit of a deft hand at cooking either (including a special recipe for curry, handed down from the Caribbean side of my family). I love pretty much all meat and seafood, except oysters. I love most fruit and veggies, too, though, with tropical fruits and peppers (both sweet and spicy) topping my respective lists.

I love chocolate, cakes, marzipan and sweet things in general. I have a horrific sweet tooth but also enjoy extremely rich dark chocolate, both in solid bar and hot drink forms.

I don't eat tomato or cheese, partially because my body doesn't like them, partially because I don't. That doesn't stop me from enjoying a barbeque pizza without cheese or meaty spaghetti bolognaise though!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Music
2. My instruments
3. My desktop PC
4. Video Games
5. Books
6. Friends and family
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Music. New riffs and time signatures and sequences are always moving around in my head. I also like thinking about fantasy things, y'know dragons and elves and all that. When I can't escape reality, the future always tends to make an appearance too, as well as politics and other boring and depressing things.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Writing music, working, down the pub or playing video games with friends, or ideally going to a gig.

You can usually find me at the pub after any of my rehearsals, too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a number of phobias, and can be quite easily freaked out by things. I can only take scary video games in small doses, for instance. Being with somebody would probably get me to play them for longer, though...

Besides that... well, I have honestly thought about this section a lot since joining this website and honestly cannot think of anything else. Maybe I'm just boring.

I'm pretty open though! I'll happily answer most questions, even if they're pretty personal. I'm VERY rarely offended by anything.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You love music - especially the same sort of types that I do! (The weirder the better!)

You want to recommend some music or books to me!

You want to talk about music or books or art in general!

You want to talk about video games or play some! (ask me for my steam name!)

You want someone to join a DnD (or similar) party!

You want to talk about how incredible the universe is, or how confusing the human condition is!

You find me an interesting person! I don't bite :) But, please, don't just message "hi, how are you?". Say something that's worth discussion! Maybe show that you've at least read bits of my profile?
