My self-summary
i like the legend of zelda, community, the riddler, and doctor strange.

i enjoy games: video games, trading card games, board games, all kinds of games. puzzle games are the best. RPGs are a close second. given the chance, i will always play a rogue-type.

my preferred typeface is sabon.

i'm a HUGE proponent of the oxford comma.

i'm an absurdist. i enjoy wordplay and puns. i often wear plaids and argyles.

my myers-briggs type is INTP, although i lean pretty close to INTJ.

one of my proudest accomplishments is making craig ferguson laugh:

my most-prized possession is my signed copy of wired with chris hardwick on the cover. i also like my the amazing spider-man #573 stephen colbert variant cover.
What I’m doing with my life
i moved to madison in fall 2010 after living in kentucky all my life. i was born and raised in louisville, and i lived in lexington for 6 years while i went to the university of kentucky. i got my B.S. in telecommunications and my M.A. in communication.

i'm now working on my PhD in mass communication at UW. my academic interests revolve around civic engagement, particularly changing forms of organizational and individual activism in a networked environment.
I’m really good at
sarcasm, irony, puns, and other forms of dry humor. that's-what-she-said jokes. also, grammar. except for here--none of these are complete sentences. but i'm usually really well at grammar.

dancing, wiggling my hips, playing air guitar.
The first things people usually notice about me
facial hair. nerdy t-shirts. skinny jeans. plaid--lots of plaid. chuck taylors with batman on them.

i'm not too picky about food or drink. i like wheat ales. and i'm from kentucky, so: bourbon.
The six things I could never do without
community. we're getting really close to #sixseasonsandamovie.

inspirational genius.
I spend a lot of time thinking about

ways that i am like comic book and TV characters.

ways that i can be more like comic book and TV characters.
On a typical Friday night I am
i have no particular plans for fridays. by definition, a 'typical' day is unremarkable.

but i think this prompt is really asking about my hobbies. so let me tell you about my hobbies on other days of the week.

monday: a few of my friends and i briefly played the star wars RPG (edge of the empire). i was a twi'lek bounty hunter, with assassin and gadgeteer specializations.

tuesday: video game night. i play video games with friends who live in kentucky. lately we've been playing destiny.

wednesday: no plans on wednesdays.

thursday: sometimes i play dungeons & dragons. in our last campaign i made it to level 4 as a human rogue inspired by the comic character deadpool. in my current campaign i'm a level 3 tiefling sorceress.

friday: we've covered that.

saturday: there used to be some good saturday-morning cartoons, but not so much anymore... no plans for saturday evenings.

sunday: the teenage mutant ninja turtles animated series is decent (certainly better than that michael bay disaster of a movie). in the evening i watch whichever awesome AMC show is currently in-season: formerly breaking bad, currently walking dead and halt and catch fire.

other hobbies, not associated with a particular day of the week:

i go to quite a few concerts. i really like the majestic as a venue, and i get to milwaukee for shows (usually at the riverside theater) fairly often.

i play magic: the gathering.

and i enjoy bicycling, which was the focus of my thesis.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i like the star wars prequels. i don't love them, but they're better than people give them credit for.
You should message me if
you read my entire profile.

you want to talk about comics, the legend of zelda, or community.

you want to debate whether "shake it off" is better than "blank space". i'm torn. don't message me if you think "style" is better. it's not. i mean, it's good. but it's not that good.
